Post your favorite accessories

I thought it would be fun to post our favorite accessories. Here are a few of mine:

My birds in my kitchen window. They were a little spendy ($120) but I love them and will always find a space for them.

These leash hangers were on clearance for $6 a piece and I think they are so fun.

I know YOUR favorite accessory of mine....beam me up Scotty......... LOL!!!

OK cat mom, no posting of that alien metal beamer upper thingy on my thread.

Of course "Bernardo", he was cheap, but I like him.

And some old paris, these aren't mine but I didn't feel like taking pictures tonight. I like mine better, but these are very similiar.

My sea shells and old white ironstone dishes with tea leaf pattern, this picture is so dark...

The first two are my favorites right now. I'm as proud as a peacock over both. Sadly they weren't original ideas. *cough* blogland.
    Cheese dome turned cloche.

I'm very fond of the urn towel holder too. It's nicer to see walking down the hall than a towel bar.

Cooper - I just adore your kitchen. I love everything from the chandelier, plates, curtains, rooster, counters..etc.

Newdawn- I love the boots with the buttons. Where did you get those?

I got them at Macy's on sale Shee..

Looove my mini chandy & the mirror above the FP...
Also the floral chair and otto, from my friend Jan~~

Very fond of the mirror above the couch, too!

I have many but if I had to choose, I have 3 which I will always find a place in any house for: marble statue, two abstract paintings and my fruit paintings

    Poor, poor cat mom....

I just gave our guest bath a mini facelift and added these. I don't know that these are my favorites but, they're new and I do really like them.

That's right coop, feel sorry for me--kk won't play nicely! LOL

For real, here's my fave (the wall hanging over the couch, though I love my grapevine table in the pic, too!):

Pillows...silk oriental and ones with leaves...

A box, inlaid with mother of peal(recognize it? Andy Rooney had the same one sitting on his desk for years on 60minutes)

I love all things pine cone! This lamp has a beautiful nightlight in the base for a soft evening glow.

It's not used in the usual place for a lamp, but I had to go with function over form. No decent lighting at this end of the room - but we need to see the scrabble board!

My favorite accessory is anything in My3Dogs house!

LOVE this post. Your homes are sooo gorgeous. Maybe if I got rid of DH and the dogs & cats, I could have such a gorgeous home too??

Here are some of my (many) faves:
Can't decide if I love the doll head or the wire dress form better. My office is the center of my quirkiness.

    From 2010-05-09

This roostie is almost 3 feet tall. I have a big collection of roosters, but this is my fave.

    From 2010-05-09

Vintage ashtray. Her base was broken and she was very chippy when we found her at a yard sale. Her owner gave her to us for free.

    From 2010-05-09

And of course, my absolute favorite. Says it all about us...

Is there such a thing as Time Share for accessories?
I'll trade for a week of catmom's driftwood table!
Come to think of it I could find a spot for any of them. What terrific homes you all have!

Thanks deedee99! I wouldn't be able to part with it for even a week I'm afraid :-)

BTW, it's not made with driftwood. Those are actual grapevines.

Great thread...love to see so many unique items that are special to home owners. Many of my special items are still in storage in my garage...so I will go with the most unique art piece I have. It is my girl Tiki, I commissioned her from a carver in San Diego and since I like Vampire lore, he gave her some fangs. She is carved out of a palm log. She has beautiful inked tatooes and a palm leaf lei. Her name is "VampTiki" and she is as tall as me and stands guard over my Tiki Lounge.

Catmom, right after I commented I looked again and saw you said grapevine. That is amazing! I had no idea they got that large. I wish VampTiki could stand guard over me as I watch horror movies when I am alone in the house. :O

Here are my vintage scales. I like the repetition of the round faces sitting in a nice neat row like birds on a wire. I like that they all work too. It looks like there is smutz on top of the cabinets. It is dusted! Not sure what that is.

We think they are the bottom portion of really old grapevines (the guy that owned the co. has since passed away, so the website is no longer up, but they had a video on the site showing these vines that looked like trees they were so thick, and "trained" to grow upward). I never would've believed it myself if I hadn't seen that video clip.

I'll bet it would make weighing things more fun using those scales!

I think vamp tiki would give me a few nightmares, but my friend's husband might like her for the tiki bar he plans to build and keep at the edge of their patio!

roseabbey- can you please post a pic of your entertainment center front view. We just had a dark wood entertainment ctr built and I would love to see ALL your acessories to give me some inspiration and ideas.

I need roseabbey to come accessorize my blah kitchen, lol!

lovetoshop, here is a picture, sorry it is a bit dark.
    loribee, thanks for the compliment.

    My favorite NEW accessories:

    Table planters in dining room
    {{!gwi}}

Moss covered candlesticks in a guest room - I still need to get the boxwood balls
    {{!gwi}}

Wire birds and small acrylic (ACEO)
    {{!gwi}}

Very special - My grandfathers flute
I found this hiding in my parents closet and asked about it. I was told that my deceased grandfather played this flute in high school. I had to have it and thought it would be a nice accessory

Gosh, I have so many that it's hard to choose!
Here's my favorite lamp. I had it made for me after I found this antique chalkware santo. This is in my family room:

This is a recent find~ a gourd pot. That's not paint on it but a black gourd carved/incised with the bird design. Talk about a LOT of detail work! I have this sitting on the mantel of my kiva fireplace in our family room:

And, as incongruous as it must seem for my mainly Southwestern home, I'm crazy about this antique Kintaro statue of mine. But . . . I have him sitting on our game table from Syria under a painting from India, so it's a very eclectic corner of our living room ;^D

This is my first time trying to post a picture. These are some of my favorites. I did the stained glass panel. I found the table on craigs list. I found the chair in an old barn and I restored it, and the basket was woven by a friend at the same time she redid the rush seat on the chair. I made the stained glass lamp and I found the white ironstone in an antique store.
    My favorite corner.

    hmmm lets try again.

Yay, I figured it out, so I thought I would post one more. I have another talented friend that made this quilt for me and it is gorgeous in real life.

Wow, lots of neat things on this thread!

    Vampiress, love the tiki goddess.

Beadweaver, that quilter must be an awfully good friend, and the basket is beautiful.

Some very nice things have been posted. Love, love that quilt.

Plants! I have some nice art work that I'll never part with but I have to have plants in my house. They clean the air, grow and change, and make me smile during the snowy months. I think it's time to find a replacement for that gold afghan though. ;-)

Neutral in color -SW goldenretriever- which goes with absolutely everything. Very stylish and elegant in the living room, welcoming on the front porch, and also makes for perfect yard ornaments.
I don't know how I could have overlooked my two favorite accessories. What was I thinking? ah well. peace out.

    Funny!

I have a revolving accessory by the name of Riley. She goes wherever we go, and also matches our decor quite nicely.

rosestink - I am a firm believer in plants. Takes me about an hour to water all my indoor plants. lol

OMG...too funny. I'll see if I can get my two Golden Retrievers to stay still enough for a picture...they are the primary accessories in my yard...and since I am landscape challenged...that is a good thing.

This is a great thread...it is fun to see everyone's cherished accents.

Lynn, I love your Kintaro statue, I remember when you first purchased him.

I would like to start collecting southern face jugs, I only have one.

He's the third one on the top of the pine cabinet, you can barely see him. I would have to hang those platers somewhere else.

I'm with Roses, plants are my favorite accessories. Right now I'm a 100% focussed on my inside and outside plants/flower gardens.

Here's a new plant stand I bought a few weeks ago. I have plants all through the house.

    This isn't a great picture.

    {{!gwi}}

Here's a picture I took a couple of weeks ago, it's just a tiny portion of a large cottage flower garden I'm growing.

And THIS is my kitchen fixture. Lizzie, the little kitten we found in the backyard a year ago this summer! What a keeper!

She's figured out the granite is a cool place to rest. :)

    What a cutie pie!

My Riley loves to lay on the bathroom granite because the sun hits it and warms it up.

Oooh, I bet that's a great place to lay in the summer for Riley.

We have three cats, and Lizzie surprised us this winter. This was our first full winter with the new fireplace and even though we have a hearth rug, we laid a folded quilt in front of the FP, and Lizzie would snooze in front of the fire with one of the dogs each time we lit it. It really made for a comfy cozy night!

I love how our pets make us smile.
