This one?

41/2 cup sugar
1 large can carnation milk
1/8 cup butter
2 (1lb) hershey bars
16 large marshmellows or 2 cup mini
1 large pkt. choc chips
1 T vanilla
11/2 cup chopped nuts.
Mis first 3 ingredients and heat to boil, boil for 5 min,stirring constantly. Mix other items together and pour first mixture over top. Stir until smooth. Pour into 13+13 pan. Yields 5 lbs.

I could be wrong but I don't think that would work since you add the other ingredients after boiling. Did you boil it the full 5 minutes? Have you refrigerated it? You might just have a rather nice chocolate sauce for ice cream, etc.

I'd try reheating it and adding more chocolate chips.
Were the chocolate chips you used "real chocolate" or chocolate flavored....if they weren't real chocolate, that may be the problem.

where did you get this fudge recipe? I have always made it like this as my mother and grandmother did from Rock Island, ILL. Their recipe called for the large marshmellows quartered, I have used the small and it takes too long to blend them in the melted mixture, and as you know time is of the essence when getting it spread in the pan.Our recipe used 1/4 cup real butter. 2 8oz. hershey bars. The main thing required for a good outcome is speed and strength. The dry ingredients must be mixed rapidly and spread before it sets.
