It sounds to me like you need a multiple light style instead of the single style you listed.

Putting in a greater wattage bulb will give you more light, but there is a heat problem---and a 60 watt bulb is probably the largest bulb the manufacturer allows. That is for the incandescent type---you could use a higher wattage flourescent bulb since they generate less heat---if there is room for the bulb in the fixture.

The one you are thinking of switching to uses an 'A' type bulb, and I'm not sure what that is.

The one you have now uses a single medium base.

I'm not sure which sort will give you more lumens, but I personally wouldn't want all or even most of my living space light to come from a single, center mount fixture.

Tends to be too bright in the center of the room where I generally don't have any furniture, too dim on the sides where I may want to read, etc.

It's also too all-or-nothing, and I can't taylor it to my needs and moods.

So long as your center mount gives you enough lumens to navigate, maybe run the vaccum, etc., that's enough, IMO.

An A-lamp is what you'd think of as a generic light-bulb shape -- nothing special. "Medium base' refers to the generic screw-in metal base on everyday, nothin'-special light bulbs. These are not different types of bulbs, they are different attributes of the same bulbs.
