Softer Modernism

Pictures from Prudential Fox Roach.

I like the ribbed glass at the entry:

These floors don't look original (the bevel looks prefinished). I wonder if this house was constructed for wall to wall carpet.

The bathrooms always seem a little stodgy, even if colorful. There was only one style of bathroom at the time so this would have been in the colonial revival next door, too.

Pretty nice for a utility area:

I don't usually post yards but this one is intense.

Gosh, that is gorgeous! Bet you're right about the LR wood floor -- not bad, not great. Love the old bathroom fixtures. Hope the tub enamel is in good shape. Now, where to put the TV..

Sloped roof? Flat roofs too? Check the drainage & run-off very, very thoroughly.

I could be very happy there. TV at right angle to fireplace, as we have it here. :)

The floor might well have been wall-to-wall. Possibly stone, but there are a lot of hard surfaces everywhere else, the windows obviously weren't meant to be draped, and in those days carpet had made us all accustomed to better noise control. My guess is carpet also: "softer" modern. :)

I'm guessing whoever put that "utility" room in had it very high on the must-have list, probably right after a kitchen. Plants were overwintered and seedlings started on that great bench. Sigh...

Beautiful house and setting.. I could definitely live there. LOL at the size of the track lighting in the kitchen(it is the kitchen right?). They look like they belong in a theatre.
Would love to see the full listing...

Oh Pal. I love that. I would like to see a finished-in-place floor in that living room.

Please share the listing, please, please. :) I might be able to convince the husband to move to PA for that if it is close to where I grew up!

    It's in West Mount Airy

Marisa, found it. Looks like it is in the Mt Airy section. Really nice, but not sure my DH would want to live within city boundaries. Still, looks like a very quiet street. Wonder about nearby areas as far as safe neighborhoods. Probably fine. It has been a very long time since I was in that area.

I want that house. Here though, you would be looking at at least double the listed price.

Ok... now I really love it seeing the full listing. Price is right in line in my neighborhood... NYC northern suburbs.

I like that one. I could see myself adapting nicely.

Love everything except the bathrooms...looks like they redid everything except the baths. Can appreciate that at least the blue and pink one is probably original to the house, but after 61 years its time for a redo....slate would be pretty and would go more with the style of the house.

Wow. I really like this one. Love everything except the bathrooms. The windows and yard are stunning. I really like the kitchen too.

Love it. :) The yard is amazing too. I live in a rather dark house. I think it would be nice to have so much light.

Love it! The utility area and the patio are just fabulous.

wow ... the view from the LR into the wooded back yard is great.

I'd repaint the bath, but aside from that, I'm packing my bags. This is nice, clean MCM with no gimmicks.
