not a designer by all means but do work in the kitchen department at my place of employment. counter top is abit to much.. theres hints of yellow in it and does not do anything for your floors...but thats just me....

my cabinets are espresso, the granite counters similar, taupe colored tile backspash and Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors... I love my kitchen, its awesome (not a great pic though)

A photo can be a little deceiving when trying to view the true colors. The granite and cabinet work well together. If the floor tile is a variegated, then you will see different patterns which can be great but possibly a little busy with the granite you have selected. Perhaps a tile with little pattern might be a better choice if you are going for a clean look. I would also suggest that you go with a simple backsplash tile as your granite is quite busy and you don't want to compete with it.
If you do prefer to use a floor tile with some movement in it, perhaps one that is a shade lighter. There is a lot of gold in the granite so try to avoid tiles with that same tone.

Chanchal3, Is the tile porcelain? what brand and name? I have changed my mind with the Mongraar tile I originally picked. I saw a picture of a kitchen with it and it is very busy. I think the one you have will work better for me. I too, want a cleaner look. I think you have the right idea; busy granite, less busy floor would be nicer. Thanks for your reply?

your floor is looking off w/ the counter top...also for a cleaner look, go more sublte on the counter since thats closer to eye level. love the cabinet color with white granite...

The tiles with yellow or taupe shades looked a bit too much with the granite. The tile I have selected does have some movement but very slight and it kinda looked nice with the cabinets and makes them pop.
I agree that the granite is a little too busy but when I looked at the lighter colors or ones with less busy patterns, they looked either too white or bland....hence the dilemma:) as I want a rich but clean and elegant look:)
I have a second visit scheduled next week - will look for something else and post some more options for your input.
@vjs12: I don't remember the name of the tile but will find out and let you know next week.

Will do. A correction on the tile- just realized I'd written sandstone instead of porcelain . It's the porcelain Milano beige made to look like travertine .

Will your appliances be stainless? How much natural and artificial lighting will there be?

Yep, ss appliances. The kitchen will have one large window above the sink so it should get decent natural light plus it'll have recessed lighting along with pendants over the kitchen island. I'm also thinking of installing lights under the cabinets later on....

I think you're cabinet & granite choices will be great with the SS appliances! I would do SS hardware also. I would choose a little darker tile to balance the darker selections. I think Natalie's selection is perfect. The kitchen won't be too dark; it will look rich. Put in those under cabinet lights now to highlight that expensive top and splash!

I would like to see a darker floor also but not another stone or tile. Would prefer wood, warmer, and maybe the color of the tile on the walls.

Thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunately it is a spec home(sigh!) so I don't really have too many options without going over budget:) I have attached a somewhat different picture which is closer to the true colors compared to the previous photo. It also has the wall paint ( only had 4 options) that I picked out. Thinking of doing accent walls later on, but these are my choices for now:)

Look at Bianco Romano. There are many variations....some have more beige/cream and very little red spots in it. I just put it in my kitchen and was nervous that it would be too busy but it is just gorgeous.
I too love white or beige with dark cabinets. Whatever you decide, make sure its your decision and in the long run, you will be happy. :)

Thanks Carolyn... I like the Giallo Portofino granite best with the cabs and floor tile I proposed. The Veneziano is nice but doesn't have the depth the Portofino does.
Found a pic of a bathroom which is close to what I had in mind for your kitchen. The wall color is PERFECT---look at the floors, cab, and counter---it all works well. The paint color you posted is a little too warm and gold. I hope this is helpful. The kitchen will look amazing, I'm sure. Good Luck!

I agree with Natalie's comments 100%. The paint color is really important; it could make or break the way your beautiful selections look.

Natalie: The other paint colors were shades of brown, southwestern shades mostly that i did not want to go for. Plus they were darker:) I agree with you - it's neither great nor bad.

I like the granite. It goes well with the cabinetry. For the floor tile I would suggest a creamy coloured tile with a more solid appearance. Your paint colour seems fine. Do you have a backsplash tile picked out? That will be the first thing you see in your kitchen so it is quite important to coordinate it with all your materials.

Why do you only have 4 options for paint colours?

Oh yes the backsplash---well I suggest keeping it solid and neutral as to not compete with the granite. Think of the backsplash as blending into the design, rather than making a statement. :)[houzz=][houzz=]

Just a little suggestion. I recently chose granite at the design center & once it was put in it looked different. Go outside in the natural light & see if the color looks the same.

Make sure you choose your slabs and not samples

We were unable to choose our slabs because the builders didn't give us that option but I will choose my own slabs for my bathrooms. Already planning to change Kitchen granite.
