Artwalk Tile -- is it legit?

I found the backsplash of my dreams for a low price at Artwalk Tile -- but I've learned to be wary of online distibutors with low prices.

Has anyone here worked with them? Are they legit?

No, but I will tell you this. I found an online source for my marble subway tile for the MBA in my old house. It was $8 sq ft vs $16 sq ft at the fancy pants local showroom

I really sweated that it wasn't the same stuff or that something would go wrong. Guess what? I ordered it from the online place, and when it was delivere ,,,, it was delivered in the very same fancy pants showroom truck!?

Yes, Artwalk Tile is legit. I purchased flooring tile from them twice in the past year and they have been fantastic to deal with. You'll find that their prices are much better than the local dealers for the same material.

Check on shipping. I bought a LOT of material online for my kitchen remodel a few years ago, but I did not buy tile. By the time the shipping was added to the tile, it was only a couple of hundred dollars cheaper. There were conditions on the delivery, you had to be at home for days waiting for it to come, you had to get it to a storage space, it would be left at the street and you had to worry if something was wrong.

I got a lot of stuff - sink, faucet, all the appliances, but the tile was just not worth it.

I agree with robtish, they are so much cheaper than anyone else....How can that be?!

That can be because they are in the city of Rochester, NY, my home town. Real estate is notoriously inexpensive here, therefore rents are very low. That means low overhead. They are called Artwalk because their showroom is in the "Artwalk" district of the city center, near the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester. My art gallery is near there, and the rent we pay each year is probably lower than the monthly rent in Manhattan. And Artwalk is passing the savings on to you! Ah, brave new internet world!

Coincidentally, I was at their showroom yesterday. They have a ton of stuff - lots of glass tile of every kind, interesting high-end tiles, commercial-grade tile. The owner/manager, who was helping me, said the showroom focuses more on the higher end stuff, but on the internet they have everything. I told him that I had seen Artwalk mentioned on Gardenweb by someone from another state, and he said that they are the second largest internet tile source in the country. Amazing, if true. Of course, every internet place must be in someone's home town.

I can't vouch for internet customer service, but they are real and they have a brick and mortar presence.

Hope that sets your minds to rest!

Yes, legit. I tiled my 2 bathrooms and my basement using Artwalk. Could not find a lower price anywhere, even adding in shipping I still saved considerable money. They were great.

I ordered a couple samples from them that I cancelled shortly afterwards. They were so nice and accomodating about it that I'm thrilled to be able to give them a shoutout. I'm working with a local tilemaker but I was really impressed with their internet customer service.

Totally legit. I just ordered quite a bit of tile from them - great customer service and great prices.

Yes, Artwalk tile is legit and I've had issues in the past with online tile distributors. Brian Dudley is a good contact if you need one, brian@artwalktile.com. Excellent service, excellent price, excellent communication. Typically with an online tile distributor all or most of those are missing. I would recommend Artwalk without hesitation as I have another post on here under Ceramic Tile 4 U and how they left me completely hanging..... Artwalk tile saved my butt and for less $.

I had a very tight schedule. Charles, at Artwalk, was able to confirm that they had the tile. He got it out to me very quickly, and let me knowwhen it shipped. The tile, including the freight from North Carolina to Austin, cost less from Artwalk than it did to buy elsewherein Texas. I ordered a large quantity of floor tile
