The area to the nottom left seems like it would get only indirect light? Would it be used during parties or get toethers?

Should have said - the french doors on the bottom left open up into the dining room, the small closet is a pantry and the opening on the left is open to the mudroom/first floor bath and laundry area - it also serves as our main entry point into the house as we don't generally use the front door.

We don't give many parties but it is a gathering place for us (family and friends).

The two cans on the fridge wall should be centered on their respective appliances, IMO.
If you have two small cans above the sink, you don't need the large can directly overhead. Instead, I'd put one centered on DW, other one equidistant on the right of sink, like at the corner.
If you feel up to it, how about one can above those double doors to illuminate that "path"?
Never consider that the ceiling symmetry matters for anything, unless you are doing a full grid of lites, where they form ranks and files. Kitchen lights are task/area/feature oriented.

Thanks sombreuil mongrel. The electrician was here (he has agreed to let me help to cut down on cost) yesterday and joists dictated that exact placement. We got rid of the fifth recessed over the sink because of the two smaller fixtures so now there are four cans.

That's a good suggestion for the path illumination - I'll see if we can get a good placement!
