Leaded Window in Master Bath?

Hello. Lurker seeking opinions please. We're DINKs @ 50, building kinda normal house, 3 acres, wooded central mid-Atlantic. I love natural light, and to bring the outdoors inside. Lotsa windows here, in an "upscale rustic" theme.

In the Master Bath is a large picture window where I always envisioned "hanging" something in front of the window, like a leaded or stained glass, which would add character without being overpowering, not block light, but add some level of privacy but remain transparent for the nice wooded view: all angles of view considered. No bars in the window.

Master Bath is almost 11' width wall-to-wall, and about 14' long corridor style with closet on the far end. Tub pictured is a simple 72 inch soaking tub with dual-sconce above. Tiles are "travertine look" porcelain with some cherry tones & a vine-texture border, cider-on-cherry cabs. Right across from the window is a large plate mirror, dual vanity with sunken area between. Window faces north-west, so afternoon sun will come in & shine onto the dual sconce wall.

SO given all this, do you think the pictured leaded glass window will look nice hanging in front of the window? DH's problem is that his Engineer Spirit doesn't believe that it will look good since the leaded-glass FRAME is larger than the window's GLASS area. The frames will be overlapped. Now that the window is trimmed in, we can see that the gross measurements of the trim area (4 inch trim molding) is 65 1/4 inches. The gross framed footprint of the leaded glass is 64 inches (and it's 32 inches wide, btw).

I think it will look fine, and am happy that it won't add color to the space. Only thing is the pattern is bold, but I think the room will handle it. But I'm not sure.

Opinions? TIA !!

Shower is adjacent to the tub.....

Here is the window (if it's not sold by now):

Blueprint snapshot if you wanna take a peek there...

oooh, I love that stained glass! I would snap it up no matter what. I wouldn't hesitate to try it in the bathroom, but definitely buy it NOW! Or, tell me where it is and I will make a little road trip (also mid-Atlantic area)!

I am serious-if you don't decide to get it, please let me know-you can email me from my page. :)

cyn427, Thanks, and that's what I thought, but wanted to bounce this off You Experts Out There.
So the dimensions wouldn't bother you? Edge conflict?

And yes, I will share the location with you (after I get this one secured *grin*). She had three in-house, but this was the only one which didn't have some small crack or something which she was repairing (being an Int Deco herself with a penchant for stained & leaded glass). Hope we can help you out!

    Anyone else with an opinion?

I have a fair amount of stained glass in our house as well as leaded glass. I decided a long time ago that staine dglass really wasn't 'for me' but the leaded glass is all about me ;O)!

I love leaded glass anywhere I could use it!

I am definitely NOT one of the experts here, but I would try it. If it doesn't work there, you can always use it somewhere, can't you?! Maybe even have your contractor add the perfect sized window. However, I suspect the difference won't bother you once you see it up! Oh and I meant to say leaded glass, not stained glass (the experts would never make that mistake, would they-oh well).

what is a DINK? Love the leaded glass. We are in a similar situation - central mid-Atlantic, 3 acre wooded lot, not in need of privacy, but did want to "dress" our windows.

As long as the stained glass piece isn't too long, i.e.; overhanging the window lengthwise, I think it would look great. Looks like you will have a very nice bath when you're done!

DINK is Dual Income No Kids. LOL. Socially dated acronym I suppose, but it fits....

I think we'll give her a call tomorrow. cyn427, will email you separately with status on the other windows along with location name, her name, hours, etc.

    Thx all !

It's a beautiful piece, but the shape and size compared to your window does sort of bother me. If it were smaller than your window in all dimensions or larger, I think I would like it better. Have you considered having a custom leaded glass window made? You could still mount it in a frame that would fit inside your window enclosure, but it could be made to more pleasing dimensions.

cyn, I got it! Well, bought it anyway - now there it will sit until we have time to drive coupla hundred miles to pick it up!! But it will be exciting to have it in the house & see how it will look there. Probably August & we'll post pics when we get it in.....
Thanks for opinions - and still let me know please if any of you wunderkind have impressions or ideas - I've seen lots of good ones here - thanks!
(cyn will email you separately with info... )

Oh yippee! So exciting. I can picture it hanging in that window with space at the top (sort of like a down/up shade would be or perhaps across the center with space above and below. I can't wait to see what you decide to do with it....and more pics of that wonderful house and yard, too! Congratulations!
