Help with dishwasher side panel???

I am replacing an existing dishwasher that is at the end of a cabinet run. The old dishwasher had a metal side panel attached to it to finish off the end. This panel will not work with the new dishwasher. The new DW is a Kitchenaid model and I checked on line and they don't seem to have one that will work. I am still waiting on a responce from customer service.

I was thinking of using a 3/4" piece of plywood and painting it to match the walls. My problem with that is figuring out where the nailing blocks will go so they won't interfer with sliding thw DW in.

Any other suggestions for closing off the side?

I am not sure if this falls under Plumbing or Remodeling so I am going to post in both.

Dishwashers are not really adequate for holding up counter.
They only attach to prevent tipping.
I would wait until you have the dishwasher if you want to use wooden blocks. You may have to use a piece as small as 3/4 x 3/4. You could also consider using metal angle and magnets to hold the panel in place.
I just finished a repair for a granite counter that was hanging in space from the cabinet beside the DW (30 inch of cantilever). I welded up a steel frame with leveling screws to adjust it for a snug fit, and then attached the cabinet end panel to the frame with about a dozen 3/4 inch diameter 'coin' rare earth magnets (~20 pounds per magnet). The magnets are epoxied to the end panel and hold it very firmly in place.
At some point in the future I will be back to pull up the tile since the kitchen remodeled laid 1/2 inch of backer and 1/2 inch of tile around two sides of the DW.
