Yes. You should seriously consider making them deeper. Mine are 13.5" deep and I have a really skinny galley kitchen. A shallower depth would have been a disaster.

I would just ask your kitchen designer about the specific cabinets. Mine are described as "12 inch" as well - but that is the inside depth. The total depth from wall is 13 inches, including the door - just the same as it would be for most overlay cabinets. I would not assume you're "losing" space because many cabinet companies factor this in

Thanks all. I've emailed the KD to see what the interior depth is. I know he commented that the cabinets would be larger than the current ones, but on the plans I see 12". We'll see what he says!
