They are both beautiful colors. It may depend on the light you get in that room. If it is a sunny room, the sage might look better. If it is dark, then the softened green would probably be fine. You can get $5 small size sample containers of paint at SW. Before painting the entire room, get samples of each color and test them on the walls and see what you think.

I painted my master bath (which is dark) and my master BR which is very sunny the same shade of blue. In the bath it looks nice, but in the BR, during the brightest part of the day, it looks very washed out-almost white. I am going to go one shade darker next time I paint the BR.

The green will look lovely with the cherry and walnut.

I painted my bedroom SW Softened Green and our bathroom Clary Sage. At certain times of the day the bathroom looks dreary and gray( but I have black accents). I do love the Softened Green in the bedroom. To me it's very soothing.

Ditto Randita's suggestion--be sure to have actual samples painted on the wall, poster board, or scrap drywall so you can see the color "in action". We liked Clary Sage on the paint strip, but didn't so much on the wall when we tested it. We ended up with Svelte Sage (not that you'd like SS better but that you never know how a color is going to look once you get a larger sample).

Greens are lovely with cherry (or darker) furniture--that's what we have.

I have Clary Sage in a BR and love it. In our dining room, we made the upper half Clary Sage and lower Liveable Green. We get compliments on the color all the time. Love it.

osuladybug, I have clary sage in my master bath. It has gray undertones and at times looks a bit "odd". When I think of sage, I think of a much greener tone than clary sage. I'm ok with it, but the sages I've seen on here are much prettier IMO.

I have clary sage in my kitchen. It's a pretty green.
