Decor decisions

I'm a horrible person for choosing colors ect and constantly second guessing decisions. So I thought I'd come here for some feedback, lol! As I'm a SAHM currently, some of our choices are dictated a bit more by $$$ rather than what I would choose if that were no object. I guess I'm hoping to see what everyone thinks or if there is another option I should be looking at. I am a fan of the "country" feel and these choices won't be what everyone would choose, I guess I just want to make sure they won't look awful, lol. We have chosen to go with hickory cabinets, natural color (no stain). I am both excited and worried about them as they can vary widely between what the hickory wood looks like from different batches. Here's one kitchen that kind of has the look I'd like (darker floor and countertop with lighter cabinets, although I won't choose a yellow wall)

For flooring we're looking at vinyl, the Pinnacle Peak Caviar Toast http://www.armstrong.com/flooring/vinyl ... 117034.asp ( i don't think what shows as the floor in that kitchen is the right one :P , it should only have the browns)

and for countertops this is what I'm considering. Himalayan Slate Formica (arborite or whatever its called) http://www.formica.com/en/home/dna.aspx ... d=1redir=1

for dining room light it would be http://dvcanada.com/feature_product.php?id=295 and pendants above the island from the same family and done in oil rubbed bronze.

the family room will be carpet, probably a beige with flecks of some sort. So I wish I could find a house like this, lol. I guess my biggest hesitation at this point beyond the hickory is the countertops. I'd say I can always change them in a few years if I don't like it, but I'm undermounting my sink and its costing $$ to do so, so I'd hate to want to change it out shortly.

Anyways, I'm rambling. I hope these links work. Anything you think will really work, or really won't work? Oh yeah, haven't chosen a backsplash, I'm hoping when its all done I can try my own hand at tiling and maybe add a pop of color somewhere with it.
