You can use that,cause you're not going to find any flame proof PJ fabrics.I worked in a fabric store for 10 years,and we always got asked for flame proof fabrics.There was/is none available for what you want it for.They have some flame retardent stuff for firemen,but that isn't available to the general public and wouldn't make good PJ's anyway.
I sew for my GK's all the time and i just use the cotton flannel available at your fabric stores.I'd never use any flannel that had any polyester in it for kids pj's though.HTH

I know that there are concerns about the toxicity of the chemicals used to reduce flammability of children's sleepwear. On the other hand, back in the days before non-flammable fabrics, there were many accidents, frequently disfiguring and often fatal. My own brother reached over the stove top for a forbidden cooky one evening at bedtime. His pajamas brushed against an electric burner that had been turned off but was still hot. His pajamas top burst into flame. My father fortunately was in the room reading the paper, and beat the flames out with his bare hands. Then my parents rushed my brother to the hospital. He had 3rd degree burns over a portion of his chest and abdomen, and was in the hospital in great pain for days. He recovered, but bears the scars to this day.

As part of my art work i need to make a floor cushion that is comforble, durable and maybe non flammable. I dont know much about materials, but any suggestions?

The only naturally non-flammable fabric I know of is wool. Anything else requires chemical treatment, which I would only use in an industrial environment.

I ordered a nonflammable fabric spray from amazon to use on my fabrics in my classroom. My students don't touch the items, but it is the only way I can hang a curtain or fabric pennant up.
