Is that the high or the low bid ?

that's the only quote right now, but from the guy my cabinet maker highly recommends. I can go out and get another quote or two, but I need to find a couple recommended painters, but I also trust my cabinetmaker's recommendation. Problem is...price seems quite high.

Sounds really high to me. I had the entire interior of my last condo painted on a 3 day rush for under $3K.

i got a quote for painting my custom cabs. room is 11x13 but cabinetry only on 2 sides, spray on site, forget how many lineal feet i have but the price was $3500. i could not afford it, or did not want to affort it, will be painting them myself.

bump

It sounds very high to me. I would always get at least three estimates. It is nice to trust your cabinet maker but it is you who is going to pay. Ask your cabinet maker if he would pay that much to paint his cabinets...

2-4K would be the average quote around here, which has one of the lowest labor costs in the country. I don't think that I'd trust the skills of too many of the 2K guys. If you have very detailed doors, glazing, or a tricky layout, or live in a high cost labor area like NYC, then I'd expect costs to be higher. Costs will also be dependent on whether the interiors are being painted or clearcoated. I usually specify melamine coating for the interior as it's much more water resistant, durable, and less long term maintainence.
