The one that is very similar to what I currently use is #2. Personally, I like the back support and adjustment options provided by that type of chair.

It depends on your comfort and support needs, and where you do your sewing...a desk?...a table?, etc. I find that chair arms get in my way when I'm back and forth to the ironing board(and they bang into the front of my cabinet). I have a sewing cabinet with a smaller chair access(more like a desk). My chair is an old government office type, armless with a small yet firm back support, but it doesn't have the nice up and down lever that modern chairs have(it has a screw shaft base). It does have only four wheels which fit under the cabinet well. It looks most like #3.
Maybe you could go to an Office Max or Staples and try a few chairs to see which type is most comfortable to you.

Arms get in my way too. I like to sit up straight and not lean back so I use an old office chair (like #2)with the back off but with adjustable seat height. I find if I'm sewing in short spurts (hopping up and down to press or do other small chores), I really don't care if I'm sitting on the chair correctly (front or back or even sideways). But that's just me and probably wouldn't be okay for most others.

Mine is also more like #2 i like the back support,the arms,and the up and down height i can get with it.I also sit in my chair to cross stitch,and work on the computor as well as sew.I got mine at the good will in like new condition,several years ago.
