X-Post, future deck

I posted on the deck forum, but I value the opinions of those in this forum, especially to aesthetics.

We added on the house (a few years ago) and now I want to connect the existing deck (12x20) to the addition, with a nod to resell value, as well as usage. The area is 12' deep and 15'8" wide from main deck to porch. The bay extends 16 1/2" from house. Removal of the small landing will probably be necessary with any decision. The slope of the yard is deceiving, if you follow the lines of the vinyl siding you will see it is level. All options allow for steps to be outside the deck area to access yard.

1. Extend deck straight across. Probably easiest and least expensive.

2. Extend deck across but with a step or two down.

3. Extend across with step downs, but leave area around bay for landscaping.

Your opinions please!
