Snoods were popular during the 40's war years. When the women took over the men's jobs they had to find some way of keeping their long hair from getting tangled in machinery. It was simply a large glorified hair net. It might keep you hair out of your eyes but it will do nothing for your hair.

Your best bet to help both your hair and face and keep cool is a straw hat. I have one for gardening that I sewed scarf ties to so I can keep it on on windy days. It does keep you cooler because of the loose weave the wind can blow through and the space between your head and the hat.

Want an extra treat for your hair then treat it with oil and then put on your hat and work outside. When you have a shower and wash the oil out you'd be surprised what it does for your hair.
