Finished modern kitchen

It already has that lived in look (2 tiny kids will do that in a week), and the only things missing are the herbs in the pots under the window, a painting in the dining room, and a lighting fixture in the dining room.

And a close up of the induction cooktop:

Kitchen is 9'x13.5'. It was a brown and pink dark paisley with cream and dark wood cabinets, a single light, and grime above the light line. We bought the house 3 years ago knowing that we had to remodel it and that we could design the kitchen we wanted: we're not planning to move anytime soon. We closed off a doorway, opened up the wall to the dining room, and completely changed the plumbing and electrical.

Cabinets are IKEA Linjar Blue (sadly being phased out) with fully extending drawers, soft close dampers on all drawers and doors.

- Cooktop is GE Monogram 30" Induction

- Oven is GE Monogram ZET1SMSS

- Fridge is Jenn Air counterdepth french door

- Countertop is Caesarstone Blizzard

- Backsplash is back-painted tempered glass from US Color Glass

- Dishwasher is Bosch (we bought it 3 years ago)

- Windows are Marvin Infinity (fibreglass)

We love it! I've learned a lot from others on this forum, so thank you.

Very cool & stream lined...I like it :)

I can't wait to see those little pots filled with herbs! what a great touch! Healthy, smells good, tasty and pretty! Are those from IKEA? And where did you find that cool organization thing beside the sink? It looks like where you keep dishh soap maybe? I want something like that to keep clutter off the counter -- as much as possible with kids in the house!

    Great job!

Absolutely gorgeous! I love the way the drawer pulls all line up on the cooktop run. The white quartz was a perfect choice. AmaZing!

Georgeous! That Linjar Blue is so striking. The Asker wall rail and pots are great for organizing. It looks like it will be a modern, clean and well-used kitchen for a long time to come. Enjoy it with your family! What a happy space you have.

Great job!!! Nice to see someone bold enough to do color!!! I love the way you matched the backsplash behind the cooktop and the sink.

WOW! I like this kitchen! Could you do a close up of the spice thing? and the Book holder? Nice job!

It's modern but not stark. Congratulations on a great job. Enjoy!

What a beautiful and UNIQUE space! Can you tell me where you got the piece of art on the end wall? Something like that would fit in nicely in my mbr.
    thanks!

Love that blue! I also really like how the streamlined look opens up your smallish space. Enjoy!

Congrats! Love the blue! Very inviting space!

Love your kitchen! While it's antithetical to the kitchen we've just finished, if I walked into a house for sale with your kitchen I'd say "Done! Finito! This is the house I want." Your kitchen would absolutely sell me! I just love how you designed it -- it is simply universally appealing.

I am really excited for you and your family. Enjoy!

    mls99 --

We're looking at installing Caesarstone Blizzard too. The sample they sent us looks off-white; slightly khaki-grey.

Your Caesarstone Blizzard looks like a bright white which looks great!

Can you comment on how white it is? Thanks.

This is a super cool, intelligent kitchen that makes especially good use of the space. Those blue Ikea cabs offer up a bolt of color that makes THE statement without being overwhelming. I also love the blue glass backsplash and the storage accessories. Very nicely done!

What a wonderful reno! Waiting to see what you istically wanted in there and creating a kitchen that works for you really paid off. Congrats!

I found your pictures a little too small for my eyes. Here are bigger versions. They are blurry because they are just the small pictures blown up, but works better for me.

You're killing me! I want to see bigger pictures that aren't blurry :oP It's a wonderful space (at least what my old eyes can see of it). I love how you've used the best of IKEA and made it ROCK! (I love the blue and red cabinets but don't have a modern enough space for them). Really lovely...now bigger pics please LOL

You did an incredible job for that size space--just beautiful! As you know I'm partial to blue, but did not have the courage to do blue cabinets. Brava!

By double clicking on your first picture, I was able to get to your Picasa album and saw them larger. I've included the link below, but you may want to repost with larger photos.

Thanks for posting it, nuccia. Bigger photos below.

Rail system for dishsoap and herb pots are IKEA Asker, as Eva said. The picture is also IKEA.

Caesarstone Blizzard: our sample looked sort of dotty, and the countertop does too, but on a big slab it doesn't stand out as much. When you're cleaning it you see the dots; when you're prepping on it you don't see the dots :)

The spice rack I stole from a thread on GW! It's just a whiteboard from Staples with little pots from BBB. The pots have a magnet at the bottom, a transparent top, and shaker holes/pourer at the side. I used a label maker to label them on the sides.

Seriously, though, this forum has provided me with lots of information, particularly from what people have learned (full flow undercab water filter, induction cookware, toekick heaters, countertop installation, lighting, the spice rack!) as well as from what's gone wrong for others. Thank you.
