First off welcome to the forum. I own an Elna SU that is from the late 70's. It is a model 68, there are a number of models of SU's so I am not sure how to help. My machine changes needle position automatically when it stitches various patterns on the cams. Do you have an instruction booklet(s) - I have 2 that came with my machine one on sewing with the attachments and the other is the operating book. I ask as there are a number of steps listed in my manual on how to change needle position. Perhaps yours isn't stuck, perhaps you are not aware what has to be moved and to where. My machine has no dial or lever which changes the position, as I said you have to follow a few steps. We maynot have the same machine and I will not take up anymore time outlining the steps that maynot even have anything to do with your machine. Can you post a picture of your machine, tell us the model or even if you have manuals? That will help us that do own SU's to help. I await your reply. Budster.
