I remember skirts made with recycled jeans yokes from early eighties. I don't think they ever became very popular, but it's a great idea and I'm glad to see that someone still practices it.

If you took a pair of denims that had ripped out at the knees you could cut them off above crotch level and sew on a liner covered by any kind of scarf.

I used to have one with print bandanas as the skirt. If I remember correctly, the lining was a lightly gathered a-line and the scarves were sewn at the corners, catching a couple of inches of scarf and overlapping them.

It was a PITA to iron! Each scarf had to be ironed flat.

FWIW, I doubt she did it herself - haven't you noticed all the 'handmade' fashions from the stores these days?

The teens & pre-teens I work w/ were awed to find out I made my own 'capris' from a pair of regular length pants - some also told me they never cut off their old pants to make shorts or capris - they buy cutoffs(!)

Skirt sounds like a cool idea tho.....

I have seen these skirts in department stores for the younger crowd. Cute
