Pellon makes an interfacing just for shades.If you are going to do a wide one,like i need to do,make sure you put the interfacing on the fabric horizontally,so that the seam doesn't show all the time if your fabric isn't a good weight.Does that make sense???

Thanks very much for your great answers, Colleen and Kathi! Colleen, thanks for the link. Yes, Kathi, it makes great sense. I'm going to see if I can just cover the vinyl shade I've already got, I think. It works fine.

Once I get it covered, is there a better way to protect it from stains other than Scotchgard? Is Scotchgard even worth doing?

Also, is there something I can use in place of fray check on the edges, like dilute Tacky Glue or something?
