Pima cotton

I was just asked by a friend of mine what size machine needle to use when sewing Pima cotton. I have to admit I am not familiar with this fabric. She says it has a heavy thread count. I looked it up on in the net and it says that it is a strong soft fabric. I would suggest a #10 - #14. What can any of you advise?

"Pima" cotton is a variety of plant, not fabric.

If it's fine thread, tight weave (percale or poplin), use smaller needles than if it's a heavier weave.

When in doubt, it's best to test. She should probably take a small piece and try a few different sizes out to see which one works best.

I would try a 75/11 microtex.
