Do check out LED cans before you install - not sure about how the bulbs are in them, but I think you'll like the light and if they last as expected, you won't be changing bulbs.

I like the flush with lower trim, we have pot lights in our family room and have it that the head swivels so the light can be directed, these are halogen which has a white light and they are on dimmer switches so you can choose the ambience.

tkpain: what you have described is exactly what the electrician was suggesting, but our lighting store supplier mentioned about the glare ... you have had no issue with glare? (the dimmers, I would think, would help if glare is an issue.

We have had no issue with glare. We have them aimed towards the walls which washes the light down the wall, it looks more subdued then having lights shinning downward.

i have installed Cree LED canned lights. They are wonderful especially for where I live in the South where it is so hot. I persoannly did not want halogen because they run so hot. The lights I installed are dimmable and give a very pleasing 3500K light, which is not yellow, but also not with the blue cast of really cool colored light. They were more expensive initially, but they pull very little electricity and will last years and years with no bulb replacement.
