Slab front or not?

Final hour, placed an order for our Shiloh inset Homestead cabinets (on doors) with slab drawer faces. Company calls to ask if we "are sure" about the slab drawer fronts. We were thinking of slab drawers so we could have some larger pulls. I believe the question is we have a few large drawers underneath the 36" cooktop. I am now wondering if those should be slab or have the Homestead design instead. Can anyone offer their advice? We need to answer them today.

    Sample door pic is here:

We are doing inset cabinets, painted soft white for the perimeter, with the island being espresso brown. Will try to post pics of the plans, which unfortunately do not show it with slab drawers.

Here are some pics of the plans:

Perhaps all the top drawers (and drawers that are shallow) should be slab, and the bigger drawers, or the ones that are aligned with doors in the other base cabinets should have the recessed front.

I love my slab front drawers, but I wanted really simple cabinets. My cabinetmaker asked several times if I was sure, and I really am glad I chose slab fronts on all of my drawers, including my bigger ones. I just like the simplicity, but look at your inspiration photos and see what appeals to you. You'll be surprised when you go back over photos you like and notice details like this, it really does help to solidify your decisions...well it did me anyway!

Here are my slab front drawers on my larger pot drawers

    Good luck!

Personally, I did/do not like slab drawer fronts. When I saw a depiction of my cabinets in the door style I originally selected and I saw the expanse of slab drawers, I hated it! I switched to another door style w/recessed fronts and have absolutely no regrets! I love the look!

I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but I do have full overlay instead of inset (another budget buster I originally wanted but decided against very early on b/c of the cost...I like the full overlay just as well, so I'm OK with it now.)

So...my recommendation is stick w/the inset drawers....but remember, this is my personal opinion & like!

I repeat what has already been said...check your inspiration pics and see what they have!

*sigh* I didn't proofread well enough...

    That should be:

    and

...my recommendation is stick w/the recessed front drawers...

I agree with Kat ... look to your inspiration photos. I had originally planned on recessed drawers, but decided against them in favor of slab drawers in order to achieve a less fussy, cleaner look. Inset drawers already have all those extra vertical and horizontal lines compared to full overlay. I'm so glad now that I didn't get the recessed drawers because my recessed doors are big dust catchers. I still like the recessed doors, but I'm grateful that I don't have to dust all the many drawers I have as well.

ErikaNH & LesMis have a point...inset cabinets show all their frames so you probably won't have the look I had and hated.

Can you ask your KD to change the doorstyle on your plans and show you what slab drawers would look like? Plus, you don't appear to have that many drawers. (BTW...can you change that at this late date? Drawers, as most of us have discovered, are far preferable to "regular" base cabinets or pullout/rollout shelves.)

Thanks everyone for the replies! I love the pics you all posted. You had a great point Erikanh, the frame of the inset cabinet does already give it a very nice look. All along we wanted the look of the slab front but only second guessed it at the last minute because of the cabinet manufacturer just wanting to 'double check'. Lesmis and Erikanh, your pics are a great inspiration, I love the look of your cabinets and I look forward to receiving mine in the next 6 to 8 weeks!
