Help I'm stuck!

I'm reupholstering my couch. I got a good deal on eBay on mohair velvet and I went for it.

The problem is my el cheapo new New Home sewing machine refuses to feed two layers of this thick fabric through the feed dog. I've fiddled with the tension and the thread length, but no dice.

Is it worth buying a walking foot? I spoke with the New Home factory and they think the machine just won't do it no matter what.

I looked into renting an "industrial" machine, but they are big ol' things and you need a truck to haul them. I don't have a truck and I don't want to have a big learning curve to operate a machine I'll only use for one job. I think my old Viking would have struggled through this. I realize I need to give up on piping the cushions. I called upholstery places and they want too much money.

What can I do?
