I don't know if this will help, and I apologize in advance if it doesn't :^(
I took two very nice weight hand towels that matched my bathroom. First I ZZ the edges together, and then I pinned the center part in lots of places so that the towelling would not creep. I then straight stitched a sunray design from the center of the towels...sort of a quilting effect.
Then I took pieces of fabric that matched my curtains, ironed interfacing to the back of it and made a border around the outside of the "towel sandwich", about 3" wide. We have been using this mat for about 5 years and have never had a slipping problem on ceramic tile floors. It is machine washable and then I dry it for about 20 minutes to fluff and hang it in the bathroom for a day to finish drying. Works well for us and looks good in the bathroom because it matches! HTH
