We had a lot of postings about making these quilts but I can't find any of them now. On Nov 14h I posted a finised one I made last year for a GD Here is the photo.
all you have to do is get two baby blankets (Fleece is popular) pin them togetherand then cut one inch strips up about 6 inches all around (be sure you cut both at the same ime) Then you tie the back to the front. See Photo Hope this helps

Is there a special knot you use.

Just a square knot. You lay the two peices on top of each other. Cut about 6 inches up into the fabric every 3/4 of an inch or so to make tassles then you tie the front and back tassle together.

Someone on the quilt formum recommended sewing the two layers together before cutting & tying. I think at about 6/7" from the edge.

Sewing together is probably a good idea to prevent slippage but then that defeats the purpose of "No Sew Blanket" idea.
But I think I may just do that.

One thing I'd like to note. If you are cutting your strips 6" long, you must cut out the corner 6". You would end up with a square that is missing all four corners, then you tie front to back after cutting your 6" in about 3/4 to 1" apart.

Do you think this would work for a full size blanket for the futon in my grandson's sometime bedroom at my home? Maybe a bigger one would need to be sewn here and there? Thanks for any help given.

I have made several of these and can offer the following:

It is best if you use an overhand knot vs. just tying the two fringe together. It gives it a much more finished look. Also, fleece stretches against the grain, so when tying those two sides, be extra careful not to pull too tight when knotting. I have found that it is not necessary at all to sew before knotting. Just pin the two pieces in place and you are good to go. I recommend 5 inch fringe length...anything less can be hard to knot. Don't forget to cut out 5x5 inch (or whatever length your fringe is) from each corner. I have given several of these as gifts for my young (toddler) neices and nephews and they absolutely love them. When my nephew opened his at his recent 1st birthday party, he immediately grabbed the blanket and laid down in front of everyone for a nap. Too sweet!
