Could you please post a pic of the homemade fringe maker your DH made for you? And also any tips you might have for using it? I haven't sewn much in years and am now sewing curtains for a bedroom and the price of fringe is out of site. Thanks so much.

I'll be happy to, but I need a few days. I've just had new countertops installed in the sewing room and everything is stashed. It's gonna take me a couple of days to get things organized again.

Thank you. And lucky you having a sewing room. I've googled for info, but haven't found a homemade fringe maker.

I've used a U-shaped stiff wire to make fringe:
--Make a long U of stiff wire, as wide as the length of the fringe you want. Wire coat hangers are stiff enough for fringe up to 1-1/2" or 2" long.
--wrap your fringe fiber (thread, yarn, cording) evenly around the U.
--Starting at the open end of the U, stitch along one side of the fringe (inside and tight against the wire).
--Slide the stitched fringe off the wire as you go, and you can wrap more fiber around the wire to make a continuous length of fringe.
--Cut the loops into fringe, and trim to desired length

Thanks Lee. Your explanation is very clear. I did read a lot online yesterday about different fringes and need to read a lot more. Stitcheasy, your links helped me alot and I'm glad you shared them.
