I don't think there is such a thing, at least I've never seen anything for that. On good thread theyhave a place on the end of the spool where you can wind the tail of the thread and it stays secure.

On cheaper thread there is no way to secure the thread. You can wrap an elastic band around the thread and over the end of the thread and that should hold it in place.

Try press and seal,if you've never heard of it,it's in the aisle with the aluminum foil,wax paper etc.Just cut strips and wrap it around the spool,it also keeps your thread dust free.

There is a product called Hugo's Amazing Tape (Google it for suppliers). I haven't tried it...I've just seen it for sale on websites.

There are "plugs" that go in the hole of a spool, but I like Kathy's idea of the Press and Seal.

I tried the Press and Seal and it works well. I never would have thought of it. Thank you.

Press & seal is also good for tracing pattern pieces or applique pieces and things of that nature.

Great idea! This can really clean up the sewing area.

There is a notch in most spools, that when purchased you start the thread from. I just use this notch when finished to put the lose end back into.

Also, newer spools of thread the entire top pops up and you just rewind some of the thread and pop it back down to secure it.

I tried the Press and Seal yesterday. Works like a charm! Thanks for the tip.
