I made a fleece throw for our TV room by serging.
(I used two layers for extra warmth and serged them together.

When serging, I used YLI Serger Success yarn (pearl cotton would also work well).

I then hand tied a fringe to the ends (optional and time consuming, but nice results)

If you really need a hem just fold it over and hem it...fleece hems nicely...but if it's for a throw, I might not even bother..

Thanks for your help. I decided to serge it (pink on one side, white on the other.) Used Pearl Cotton as suggested and did lettuce edge on the ends for a ruffled effect, and it looks very pretty. She's always so appreciative of anything I make her, so I'm sure she'll like it.

I use wolly nylon thread in the loopers and lessen the tension. It works good on receiving blankets too.
