Your options may vary depending on the width -- 15 or 18 inches, but there are threads with the same question and lots of suggestions, from wine coolers to the smaller DWs to trash or recycling pullouts to shelves with basket or books -- I'm sure I can't remember them all. Try a search, then look and see what you want but don't have.

I have done two such jobs within the last two months. One compactor was replaced with a full height door with recycle can. The other was replaced with a 3 drawer base. The hardest part in this process is matching the finish of your existing cabinets. The style of the door and drawer is more easy to match than the color.

Or you can just use as a trash can - my parents did that for years after their TC died.

Being that I haven't had a trash compactor I'm not sure of it yet. I just wondered if it wasn't useful to me what could I do with the space. Lascatx idea of beverage or ice maker maybe and then I think try to match the cabinet. Thank you for taking the time to answer. I just missed the thread recently on compactors.
