Why thank you for all the wonderful comments about the Kokopelli I did. This piece has an story behind it. About five years ago, my husband and I took a long awaited trip to England. Our grown son is in the army reserves (military police) and was waiting for final orders to go to Iraq. I was nervous about going, not knowing when he would be leaving. But anyway, we went and while there, I found out Gary Drostle, (mosaic artist in England) was holding classes and I REALLY wanted to sign up. But the classes started the day after we landed, and in a city about an hour by tube & boat from London. Since we were unfamiliar with getting around, I wasn't sure I could get there so opted out. When contacting Gary, he said, if we were close the two weeks we were there, why not stop at his studio for a visit! WHICH WE DID. My husband and I spent an afternoon with Gary, touring his studio and seeing his marvelous work. He is fantastic and a super person! While there we traded! I brought him Weldbond and other adhesives, and he gave me tile....lots and lots of beautiful tile in every color.. So I wanted to make something really special with those tile. After we arrived home, and our son left for his year in Iraq, I thought and thought about what to make with those "beautiful" pieces. So last year, I finally came up with the idea of using them for this platter and giving it to our son.
