Jane when I first became a lurker you had just started this piece (I think) and it was the one thing that I have always wanted and wanted to do...your peacock. I am so looking forward to seeing you get this done and hung. I want to do one someday...gotta get the pattern from you or find out where you got the pattern.

Now about that room.....DANG I WANT IT!!!!!! I just want the hubby to rip out the wall adjoining our two spare bedrooms and waa-la I would have a great big studio...but he wont and honsetly I dont want to make our 3 bedroom into a 2 bedroom even for the sake of a studio..but he could build on!!!!

This is an incredible undertaking. I'm in awe of the skill to do such a piece. Stunning, even incomplete.

Here is "The Sign" and the WIP...took this pic today on the way home from the stained glass store,I was out a couple of colors(How'd that happen?)so go for two small pcs and end up spending $84!!! Well, I'm getting better cuz I always spend OVER $100! This peacock wip, is like trying to make a silk purse from a sow's ear!But I'm determined to getterdone! No matter how much solder I gotta use!!lol!

I didn't realize you were doing actual stained glass (how novel ;-P ). If you think your lead lines are too wide for solder how about switching to GOG?

What a project! When you get this done, you will be the queen of stained glass. There are soooo many pieces. How many lbs of solder do you think you'll need? Speaking of solder, how about the price of solder these days? Whew!

I always spend $75-$85 ever time I go to the SG store. We laugh because I always get in that price range.

OH MAN!!! That is just STUNNING!!! WOW. I would have to do it GOG since I do not have a clue on stained glass yet. I would have such a hard time getting all the pices foiled and back in the right place from where they came from. I can barely do it with mosaic. LOL

I can understand you stopping on this one for awhile. Like my dresser. Something this intense can be exhausting.

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone! Andrea, this is a copper foil method and all those gaps are where I have to solder!!! I have thought about GOG...every day!!! Just to get it done, but no, I gotta persevere! I am actually enjoying analyzing my newbie work and working with different textures of glass, of course I picked some doosies(hard glass to cut) and some, like the GNA, is butter!!! Those peacocks down the road, there are 5 peahens and 2 peacocks, beautiful!! Shades, I hear ya!! I don't understand how I think I've made the perfect cut and by the time I foil it and put it back in place, it's all wrong!!! My mentor at the glass studio makes it look soooo easy!!! She has been making totally amazing stuff these last few years! This is one of their books:

OMG - Janie - I'm so glad you're back at this. I had to laugh at your comments on several other threads, mentioning getting back to this.

After FINALLY finishing my first stained glass piece (picture later today!)I just have a whole new appreciation for this process. I have to tell you, I groaned very loudly when I really took in how many pieces you have to foil! Are you doing them strictly by hand, or do you have a handy dandy tool you're using? My hands hurt just thinking about it.

I have hand foiled all of it. I have a foiler but never use it, I find it's quicker, just like hauling out a food processor, vs just cutting stuff up. So about 400pcs so far, hand foiled, and 300 approx to go.
