YIKES Chickee. Those circles sound frightful!!! When I got my Morton there was a plastic thing to put under the smaller pieces. Maybe you can find something like that for your grinder. Maybe I will try a few larger ones. For the side of my dresser I cut 3/4 inch tiles into quarters to do the mirror fill in and those are tiny bits to work with. Maybe since I am so new to my grinder I will start larger.

I think I am going to try that as soon as I get up from here.

LINLEE- yes that would make an awesome if I had more chairs to put around a black table. I had been toying with the idea of painting the chair a very deep shiny black (yes I probably should of thought of this BEFORE I mosaiced!!!) and I really think after its grouted I will definitely do that!!! I can just picture it..it will be awesome!!

SHADES- can wait to see what little circles you use on your dresser. That is a good idea to put a small piece of plastic under some of those pieces...that just might work...

I had bought a few glass circles but have never found any colored or the size I wanted (smaller of course!!!) but if you look at my circles they are anything but perfect but I think it makes it blend in better that way!!!

LadyR- the leafy things are beads from Shipwreck beads. I have a thing for trees and leaves..dont know why..maybe I was a wood nymph in a former life (if I actually believed in such things!!!!)

That chair is AMAZING!!! I don't think I'd have the patience to grind itty-bitty round mirror pieces - that is sooo EXCELLENT!!
I also LOVE the leafy beads. They have that irridescent look I love.

Well I have been grinding my little fanny off last night and a little bit today. I have the chair all finished in front but now have the back to do..I was in my little grinding trance today when I realized..wow why is my grinder water a little bit pink?? I had cut myself and had been bleeding into the grinder water...uggh!!!!

My right pointer finger is never gonna be the same I swear!!!!

Thank you so much you guys!!!! I did not get to work on it at ALL today...I had plans to I shampooed the carpets and had scheduled (treating myself good today!!!) an hour long massage. When I got done with that I found the weather had changed drastically and a tree came down down the road taking out a power pole and blocking the road. So I had to turn around go the back way into our neighborhood and did not get power back for 5 hours. So Im just hanging out here now...till tomorrow.

I dont know why I have the patience to do all that grinding....I tend not to be a very patient person...I guess this is just so theraputic I have patience.

I love the glass you used on the edges. I know about the grinding and grinding. It does make a difference though in how things look. This is going to be so beautiful wherever you place it. Did you say how long this has taken to get to this stage?

This chair ROCKS! It reminds me of a bench in the lobby of this riyadh we visited in Marrakesh. (Morroco, Egypt - it's all North Africa!) I want it! Or, I'll at least have to try and copy it ... It really is awesome!

Honestly over all the chair has taken about a week...of course that was stretched out over a couple weeks because of just not having enough free time. I think the longest parts were the circles and over all I know about 3 days were grinding those darned things cause I'd get bored go do something else and then come back to grinding.

As of right now I am on the backside of the back-piece of the chair, I have grinded quite a few circles and hopefully that will be enough to finish it. That is all I have left to do (other than grouting) is gluing all the circles down. I will post a picture of the piece done before I grout.

I am thinking (maybe still not sure) of letting it go to auction for the "relay for life" auction in may...but I'm really falling for this piece and may not be able to give it up!!!!

Nice- I originally signed up to do a tray..so I have lots of choices to give them. I still have a few months to decide what to put on the tray...Hazie made me keep the chair!!! (just kidding!)

I glued on quite a few circles today and have a few more to grind then glue and whamo....I think tomorrow could be the day it is done...except for grout...woo hoo!!!

Well the mirror circles are all done!!! Im now working on the last two sides of the edges of the back...I will be grouting it tomorrow!!!! Im letting the ge II set up with the bb's and then flipping the chair to the other side and doing that edge and then letting it dry and waiting for tomorrow. I will post the finished pics in a new thread when done.
