Ticor sink template problem

I was all set to order a Ticor sink (S105-8) and was just told by my granite installers that the template is in mm so they can't use it. I guess they need one in inches. Has anyone else had this problem? I was told we'd need to pay an additional $300 to get a Ticor installed.

I'm trying to decide if I should put the extra money into a more expensive name brand sink that is only 18 gauge with smaller sink bowls or if I should just get the Ticor and pay extra for the granite cut. Any suggestions?

Get new granite installers. You've got morons. Any who can't convert from one format to the other probably don't understand that granite comes in metric sizes to begin with.

    Ditto what LWO said.

The template that came with my sink was a piece of paper that had a solid line on it matching the outside edge of the sink. There was also a dashed line a little less than an inch inside the outer line. The solid line was for a granite cut that would have revealed the lip of the sink; the dashed line was for a zero reveal (I might have the term wrong). My granite fabricator suggested a slight negative reveal based on the style of the edge he was going to fabricate; I said fine.

In all of that I don't think a single measurement was taken, either metric or inches.

Sounds like your installer needs some education.

It makes absolutely no sense that it would cost extra. I have 2 Ticor sinks and when the fabricators came to measure, they took the sinks back with them.

My fabricator just took the template with him. He didn't take the sink or even look at it. My template had one solid line matching the edge of the sink. I don't believe there were any measurements on the template either.

My granite comes in on Monday, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My GC has total faith in this fabricator. And the fabricator has 20 yrs. experience.

I agree with the others who suggested you get a different fabricator. It just doesn't sound right.

    Good Luck!!

Ditto everyone else re: the abilities of your fabricators.

I don't remember the template on my Ticor 105-8R (like yours, but w/ the bowls reversed) having any meaurement units on it. The granite fabricators took the template with them and just asked me if I wanted a positive or flush reveal. I went w/ the positive. Installation will be this weekend.

I checked my ticor sink template and there are no measurements on it - just 2 outlines, one solid and one dotted.

My templater/fabricator, as incompetent as they were, had no problems with my Ticor sink template...

    That is so lame!
Do the conversion for him. Any idiot could do it!

    Hmm.
That last post didn't quite say what I meant.....;)
I am not calling you an idiot, just your granite guy!

    ditto ditto ditto

My fabricator has all the sinks' dimensions programmed into their computers. Mine wasn't there, so he went online and got it. I wonder if anybody even uses the cardboard thing with all of the technology these guys have not!

Thank you all for your comments! Looks like I need to do some looking around for a better fabricator!

Yes, I just had my granite installed yesterday with a Ticor sink. There's nothing to convert. I handed him the template and the sink and that was it. I've got other issues but the sink is fine. I take that back. The sink is awesome!

Our Ticor sink was installed yesterday. The fabricators took the template only and not the sink. I'm loving the results.

Ooops, I bought my sink so long ago that I apparently forgot which I chose but realized that picture didn't look like my sink. I was looking at the Ticor but ended up going with the Vigo. Still, if they have a template, there's nothing to convert.
