Love my runnels. They really do drain the water into the sink. I do a lot of handwash, and I set my dishes directly on the runnels. I have a lot of counterspace, so I wish I had made them a wee bit longer.

I, too, love my runnels. They work great and look great. It seems the only people who have them and don't love them are people who had a fabricator who didn't know what they were doing. Runnels need to have a particular angle to drain properly, and to get it right, it requires the right template. If your fabricator is suggesting this, chances are, he knows what he's doing. Still, you might ask to see a sample or another client's finished runnels to make sure.

We did a drainboard on both sides of the sink. The slope is so subtle that I often forget they are there. They function as they are supposed to yet don't impact the use of the counter much, if at all. I wish I had done the same thing at the prep sink so that water I get on the counter will run toward the sink rather than down the front of my cabinets.

Thanks for the opinions so far... more coming I hope! Erika, how long are yours? It's funny... merely the thought of cutting anything into my pristine granite seems so... wrong, permanent, risky that I won't like it. Somehow even little choices seem so scary! Thanks for your help!
