mesh backing question

Hi everybody -

Re: my impending backsplash

We are replacing all the drywall in the kitchen area (and adding insulation!). So, if I have my GC put up green board instead of sheetrock on the walls where my backsplash will be, would I be able to use fiberglass mesh backing on which to build my mosaic rather than doing it on plywood or wedi board?

I would say yes, they recommend backerboard/wedi alot for bathrooms, I think it would be fine if you remember to use a good sealer when you are done. I recommend going to a tile store, not just a hardware store for grout and sealer as they are the experts and I have found you can really get them talking, and you gleam a lot of good info!

Good advice - go to a tile store for instructions on this one. Don't have experience to advise.
