Are they thin ? If ther're thick ( like stoneware ) they might end up looking too clunky.... But cut your little heart out !!! :) I'm ready !

By the way -- I'm having soo much trouble getting into the GW - 'maybe' I can get in ONCE a day. I get "page can't be displayed" most of the time. So if I don't post - you know why !! It's so frustrating ........

two cup plates - very thin, will be perfect for the smaller sized (1/2") hearts. Then I got a matching dinner plate which is cool because the floral pattern is the same but bigger so I'm thinking I'll cut out some larger sizes to mix on the braclets. The big plate is still maybe 1/4" thickness.

these are "Liberty Blues" by staffordshire, depicting historic places in the centers. If anyone has any want of those scenes I'll be glad to send them out after I cut the rims away.

Nicethyme - I'd love to have the centers! Been collecting scenery type plates to combine into some stepping stones for a side bed. I'll email you about them privately.

oooh, NICE.....I know the plates you mean. They are beautiful. One of my BEST EVER thrift store finds was a whole set of those Liberty Blue dishes - 75 pieces for $49.99. Haven't had the heart to break them, though. They are all in perfect condition and are so beautiful. Don't know that I will ever be able to take the nippers to them. Would have to be for an extra special project. If I just had a couple of pieces, like you, I probably would have been able to do it. But when it's a whole set....do you know what I mean?

Oh, and I will be anxious to see how you seperate out just what you want from the rims....

This is just another option .... I can use lead free solder to wrap them . This way - they can be safely worn without having lead against anybody's skin. The drawback is - Lead free solder has more of a "pewter" finish. Not having them plated would save you a few cents. In my opinion - plating is awesome . Gold & Nickel look great & is cheap. I can do whatever you'd like ! Make as many things as you want -- take advantage ! LOL I bet these wil be awesome ! (They do have a $25 minimun order - but I can make up whatever we need for the minimum)

Is the lead a real concern after it's plated? I don't foresee these being worn so much as being keepsake items in the firebox. And I can tell ya right now, the girls will vote for gold. lol

okay before I cut anything, I want you to see if this is going to work for ya, the smaller ones are measuring 3/4"... is there anything you would want changed in the shape, less pointy or more, Just tell me what works best for you and I can start over.

Everything looks fine !!! I can get the foil to form around the curves. As for lead - is really IS poisionous .I'm surprised the Gov hasn't banned it for stained glass yet.
I use lead free solder if something isn't going to be plated so it's safe. PLating takes care of everything though ! I checked the plating price for gold & nickel - anything under 2" for nickel is 65 cents a piece - and for 24kt gold is $1.35 a piece. Then there's postage - so I just want to prepare you for the cost. My work is free of course ! *wink* Now get cuttin' !! :)

oh and because of the thickness of the dinner plate I think I'll just do these 2 cup plates but would you want some pendant or brooch size hearts or ovals from that plate? Otherwise I think I'll just make those forals into tiles and send the center along to Curb.

oh, I guess I better find out more about that (ring saw). Google here I come. Sounds like something I'm gonna have to have. Any advice on choosing one?

I remember you guys talking about ring saws before, but I thought they were strictly for glass....didn't realize they could be used for plates, too.
