Riana Project WIP

Here's my "Headlight" ungrouted. Behind the eyes, which were the bottoms to stemmed wine glasses, and glass heart shaped mouth are holes in the mesh so they'll show better when lighted. I have a wired socket for a light inside. This is a patio sconce. Hope to grout tomorrow, but since I'm not very strong, w/probably have to have a handyman hang it - it's heavy and needs holes drilled in the brick wall to attach hooks on which to hang it. Un-named at this point. Suggestions welcome.

    Molly B'Golly, Bohemian Babe!

Say THAT five times fast! :)

Molly-BoBabe is 13" wide X 24" tall X 11" deep from the nose to the wall. I originally was going to make another planter, but changed my mind. I ALWAYS get in trouble when I change my mind. She was already formed, so had to go w/it for a sconce. More patio decoration. Yeah, colorful - crazy/wild and as usual too busy. Oh, well - still trying to get it rhiiiit. W/NEVER happen at this rate. You'd think after three/more years, I'd get closer to it. **whaaaaa**

WOW!! Amazing! She's already had a nap too!hee hee(pillow) now it's time to rise and shine(lite up)!!! It's so cool to see the eyes and mouth are like my star tower! It will look so cool lit up!

    Molly BoBabe!!! Perfect

I love all of her , especially her mouth !!! She is so colorful and I imagine she will glow when you light her. LOL Its probably all that wine she drank for her eyes. At least, I thought it looked like the bottom of wine bottles???

    You are so gooooooood galllllllll..

Well I'll be hornswaggled! I went to bed last night feeling like I'd failed and nobody w/respond to my MollyBoBabeUGLY. Y'all beat all I've ever seen. I feel better now!!!!!!! MERMAID - I couldn't find but two wine bottles in my stash and they didn't match - one had the dimple. They were too large for the area anyway, so the wine glass bottoms were perfect. Like I said, wine never tasted good from those glasses anyway - and that's my story. BAMA - I TOLD y'all to quit that Queen crap, and you'rs w/be the bestest of all of them. Silly girl. You doing yours in glass? I wanted to use all dish shards but don't have enough colors. Y'all, you've strengthened my faith in myself again. I don't know what I'd do w/o this forum. Probably sink in my reclusive little hole and whine about my work. THANK Y'ALL VERY MUCH.

We LOVE EVERYTHING you do!!! Everytime you make something I'm totally in awe by the way you put it all together, you put the coolest stuff in your work. I love your style, everything is so vibrant and interesting to look at!! Wine glass bottoms for eyes.....how creative is that!!

Molly Bobabe is GAWJUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!! Just like everything you do! I really, REALLY wanna be creative like you when it comes time to mosaic my bench. Just hope I can scrape a bit of creativity outta myself to do it. May have to print out some pics from your album and hang 'em on the bench for constant inspiration!! Hmmm... sound like a plan!

    Perfect Flag!!! Slowist!! Luv it!!!

Oh, Slow! It's wonderful! It makes me want to dance! What could be better than THAT?

I am SO honored...I got to help name a SLOW piece!!! How cool is THAT!!!! Thank you, Sweet Betty!

Aren't y'all darlin?!!! Thanks again - here's MollyBoBabe grouted. To explain a bit - there's a band around the back of her blue/orange headband for hanging her. The bottom band is something I added when her head hung too far out from the wall. I had added a gusset to give her more areas to mosaic where her EARS SHOULD HAVE BEEN, AND I FORGOT TO PUT CUP HANDLES, DANG IT, so w/the gusset too deep, I had to add the band to hold the chin out so she's flat against the wall. Next time you see her, she'll be hung on the patio w/the light aglow. Oh, I grouted those four switchplates - made three yesterday. I'll tell you how much into withdrawals I was on my trip. I had 20 min. b/f seeing my DD on Sunday morn. Had made a Walmart run to shop for different stuff than is found in my area, and bought beads and Alieens' tacky glue. FORGOT to buy sissors for cutting the top from the glue so had to use a key off my keychain to "saw" the little tip off. Got a few purple beads glued on in the next 15 min. THAT's withdrawal. It DID teach me to put in the Jeep a traveling mosaic kit so that scene w/never be replayed when I have a few minutes to do nothing. BTW - Alieen's Tacky Glue is a lot faster than Weldbond and held beautifully. Lost two purple beads from lack of enough glue in a hurry that day.

She turned out beautiful!! Oh my goodness!
    I absolutly love her.
I love your switchplate covers too! You remembered to put danglies on!!LOL. I sooo admire your talent.

    Slow,

Maybe you should enter MollyBoBabe in a contest!! I mean it , she is perfection, unique, artistic, and a million other words my brain dead self can't come up with at this moment!!!

And you had me laughing thinking about a traveling mosaic kit.... LOL I am going to get some of that Aileen's, I've seen in at jo-ann's .

Now the switchplates... AWESOME!!! Didn't you say awhile go that you need some kind of beads etc to anchor the grout??? I guess I'll have to buy some cuz I feel the need to mosaic every switchplate in our house!!! Did i see many more undecorated switchplates just waiting on you???

I just want you all to know that Slow modeled and designed this piece after my face........I really do look like this..............and seriously Slow...this is about the best thing since bread...as is all your work....! I WANT THIS!

WOO HOOOOO I got me a Slowmedown FIX! LOL
AWE MAN she is GREAT! You are so inspiring! thank you for sharing all your art with us, I love molly!

BAMA - right back at you in the admiration department. MER: you're a dear for saying that about a contest, but I'm too lazy and busy to market my stuff. I got the grout anchor idea from GYPSIE. She uses little chains on some of hers, but since I don't have any chains, I saw several of y'all using BBs, so that's what I've been using. Think they're cheaper than ball chain and I have better luck putting them or beads on one at a time than trying to lay a whole chain on the side. Yes, more switchplates and plug covers in waiting. They're really fun to do and go quickly.

Rats, I was in one of those wandering in the wilderness moments when I submitted my response. Forgot to read down to the rest of your responses. Hey, I'm old, y'all. GYPSIE - come get it, and you can have it. NT - I've been missing you - thanks, and what are you up to these days?

WEll,you can bet when I come through TX, I'm loading MollyBoBabe up! You're not old....like wine...you just get better and better!! CHeers!

Everyone needs a traveliing mosaic kit!!

MollyBoBabe is awesome. those switchpate covers came out great, too!!

Slow, I just love this latest project. She is going to look so awesome lit up too. How fun you got to take another Rianna class and get inspired to make this great gal. Love all your switch covers too, they're so vibrant and eye catching.Do show a pic of her hung and lit, I can't wait to see it!
    Cindy

A-MAZE-ING!!! Sure wish I had your talent of putting so many different things together and making it look soooo good! Can't wait to see her hung and lit up!
LOVE your switchplates! I just made one for my front room and now wished I had seen these first, I would've added more to it! I'll post it later...but now I have GREAT inpiration for the next one!!

Had to go back and look at MollyBoBabe again, as I am so awe-struck of her...and I forgot to mention your beautiful switchplates....you've just gone on a run with them...beautiful and unique....bright and cheerful...I really like the danglies you have hanging on a couple of them....an added eye candy and different.

Well donchy'all make me smile again?! I got impatient last afternoon and used all my afternoon strength to hang that horror, and I'm not happy AT ALL. I didn't think about the mortar oozing around the eyes on the inside, so when it was lit up, you could see it. The hooks I chose hold it away from the wall, and I don't like that. Hung it too low so I can see the inside of the tiara, so she is coming down for a re-thinking. Everything I do is an experiment, and what I learned from this one is that I have a lot to learn on hanging wall sconces, and I'll never use what I learned cuz I'M NEVER MAKING ANOTHER ONE!!! To be continued. Thanks, y'all for the encouragement. The idea for danglies on wall switches is straight from you, GYPSIE - thanks for that.

I hear ya Slow! My underwire idea is not "enough support" HA! I know how I should do it and keep thinking I can "get away" with another way! lol!
Can you chip away the oozing mortar?

I tried, CALAM - got as much as possible of the mortar, but forgot to try on the mouth. Learned a new way to use a skill saw. Ronnie turned the blade backward, sawed off the band I added to the back in order to hold hold the ugly thing level against the wall, which it DID, but left too much light showing all around. He also hung it higher. IF I can stand to work on it again, I need to dress the back cuz it now looks down and one can see the backside of the band from which it hangs. It's a never-ending problem. Oh, y'all NOT gonna believe this. Those crazy eyes actually FOLLOW you. They look at you on the left and also on the right - WEIRD. I don't understand that one. Last pictures.
Riana Project Finished as far as I'm concerned

    Groovy!!! LOL!!! PJ

This reminds me of that sconce I made DH(Like he really wanted one!LOL!) It's hanging by a thread and a prayer!lol! Oh the Calamities!ha! AND the headboard I made, oh man, that is so bad DH won't even fix it!ha! HEY! We are Creative Geniouses, we can't do it all!!! At least you had help, and got the results! I have no shame, and hang stuff anyways!ha! And DH has no shame and Leaves it!!! Anyhoo, your head looks really neat lit up!!! Good Job!

Yes it looks great, bet you just sit out there and stare at it.I think it would be mesmerizing,I love it.You just know where to put every little piece to make it turn out perfect!

Oh, yeah, right, CRACK. Sunday night after Ron hung the "Queen of Imperfection", I was so tired from the heavily active weekend, I went to bed b/f dark. Last night I FORCED myself to stay awake long enough to get the picture. I sit w/my back to it. Does that tell you how much I love it? If/when GYPSIE passes through, I'm having that sucker packed and ready to ship outta here. I shoulda stayed w/the flower pot idea on that one. I WILL make another one for a flower pot.

SLOW . I bet there is a twilight zone show about your Molly!! Her eyes DO appear to follow you around!!!!

It really is way too cool, a true work of art, and if you appeared with Molly on a HGTV episode you would be famous and have a cult following!!!

Have you sent the pix up to Rianna yet??? I bet she would enjoy seeing what all of you have done since her workshop

ROFL "queen of imperfection" - ya can't have that name - tha's me! LOL

that's so funny that her eyes follow you. I have a real aversion to faces in the garden for that exact reason - one of my clients has a face nearly buried in the mulch and I bout have a heart attack every time I unearth her... lol

I still think she'll grow on ya! she is spectacular in the daylight!

Woa...she is a bit spooky at night! Maybe she can scare any burglers away, lol!
I agree with NT, she is spectacular in the daylight!

I tell you - it IS weird that they follow me when I move. Thank y'all for the compliments. MER - Thanks for reminding me to send a picture to Riana. I'm not sure she knows how to open a link and navigate Photobucket, but I'll try. NT - no kidding? What kind of face is in that client's garden that has the same weirdness? Thanks, y'all. Y'all always make me happier w/my work.

SLOW - she's georgeous in the daylight and mysterious in the dark - perfect!! I love that she's so colorful and bright. Great work!

I LOVE here!! Yes, she's a bit spooky, but that makes here even more interesting.

Ah... she comes ALIVE at night! Love it! More of your wonderful colors!

Many thanks, y'all. An idea twirling in my mind to build a grotto next w/the mesh technique.

Well wish I could come sit and stare at it!!!If I was Gypsie I'd get down there soon. Slow do you think you can get pictures someday of some of the other pieces that were being made in class?Maybe Sheilas boot,Jans head,Ronnies head???It would be cool to see them done.Just a thought but don't go to any trouble.

Well I just love it. I know it's the weirdest feeling when you think some ones watching you, and you know it can't be. Looks very cool lit up like that.
    Cindy
