I always think of yellow and blue as being French country...I think yellow would be pretty. Or for more subtlety, you could do a lighter or darker version of the blue for a tone-on-tone look and bring yellow in with the drapes and chair cushions.

I agree with joanie that yellow and blue are traditional French Country colors. I am going for a fairly FFH look also but yellow and blue doesn't work in my space so I am using a greyish green wall and will pick up other colors on the breakfast side of my kitchen.
