I come up with a color scheme and then hunt/order everything that fits that color, I dump it all out in a pile on my dining table and await inspiration!!!! lol

I am so like you! I can really let myself be over whelmed if I over think something. (Which is quite often) The bowls were so incredible weren't they? And add the pressure that it's gonna be sent to someone else?!?!

I haven't gotten the can yet, but I've been thinking about it. When I do get it, I'll light candles around it and pray to the mosaic gods for guidance and wisdom....

I am going thru the same thing and like Nice, I create more mess than anything else in the beginning...and middle, okay and I usually start something else before I clean up at the end of the 1st project!!! I've started my mirror and am hauling out all my glass I scored in Mexico and adding to that, and changing the colors, and going with a different theme, and...... I had to put it aside for a day to calm down!!! Did I mention my yard is really badly needing weeding?! Weeds are very high in the beds! Can barely see my garden art!!! (Note to self: Have to start making taller garden art!) hee hee!!!

Oh, Jane another inspiration - taller garden art!! And I was going to pull those darn weeds!!!

Maybe for the next challenge we should pick a theme, and let the substrate be the choice of the participants?

I torture myself over every project it seems....I agonize over the design and colors and then when I finally get started, as I am working, it totally changes. Sort of defeats the purpose I know, but it's almost as if I have to go through that torture before I can begin.

this may sound strange but it's how I've come up with any design so far..
and the projects that got as far as they are, are still sitting in the prep stages.

I put what I have, either on the window sill or on the fireplace mantle.
only for lack of space and for no other reason.
and when I'm on the couch, across the room...it seems that's when the idea just seems to happen.
looking at it, while I'm either on the phone or just looking at it, there's always a shadow from some light.
one of them was from a frog ceramic garden pot, that was sitting on the fireplace, next to a vase I had prepped.
somehow, the light from the kitchen, behind me, was casting a shadow on the vase, from the profile of the frogs face..
I really liked the strange lines it made and got a pencil and while I stood at the fireplace, I just simply penciled in that strange profile that turned into a line drawing on the vase that had a pleasing curve to it.
no way does it resemble a frog but it does have a certain line that I repeated about 5 times, around the vase.
and there it sits...
and has been there for at least 5 months...
long before I found this forum...

but it's not the first in line to be finished, so it will most likely be sitting there till I have a need to remove it...like maybe dust or something..chuckle, chuckle!

I suppose you could have it sit next to your bed, to become 'one' with it..lol
to get a feel for what personality you give the project..lol
just kidding...I seriously don't go that far, with any project.
(I could say not even a guy, but I won't be that insensitive)

I have often said of my self that I tend to "over think" things...which I do..I'm anal that way. The best projects I've done seem to be the least thought over.

I do tend to do like Becky does and stare at things...but I usually don't have a color scheme first like nice does.

I REALLY like hrsg idea of letting the color choice be a part of the theme..some times when I have to stay within a somewhat limited scenario I seem to be at my best..

Tmg- Don't stress (easy for me to say!!!!) don't lose sleep..just let it flow....it'll all work out!!!

ACK Me TOO. I usually sort of kind of have an idea in my brain of what I would like to do and then change it about a dozen or thirteen times and back again. I haul out all my glass and china bits and end up with HUGE piled up messes just waiting to fall over and sometimes when they do an idea is born. LOL In the end my project might not even be close to what I had in mind. My lady perfect example. She evolved. Just try to have fun with it.

And on an aside. Was it you that loved the horses so much? Someone sent me a U-Tube link to the most amazing horse clip. If you are still on dial up I will need to figure out how to burn it to disk for you. I have watched it at least a dozen times. WONDERFUL dressage performance. I DO Have tears in my eyes !!! I'm just speechless - I've never seen anything like that ! That is just beautiful to watch ..... I'm glad you posted the link --- I'm sure I'll be watching this alot more times . This makes me believe even more that horses are the most awesome & elegant animals on earth .
