shrty - how about applying a coating of concrete over it? Thicker in some places, thinner in others so that you smooth it out.

I've had this issue on a couple of my pieces - wanting to "smooth" them out so there wouldn't be so many grooves or angles. On a pedestal, I just applied a concrete mix into the groves on the sides of the pedestal, making each side smooth. And on another pedestal type thing, more of a cone shape but with lots of angles - I wrapped chicken wire around the whole thing, then applied the mix over it (1 part cement, 3 parts sand). This made it more rounded. I think the chicken wire would be hard to do over something round, though.

I was thinking about just using concrete over it, then I wasn't sure if it would stick ok.I think the wire would be too much of a pain

I think(really, I do!)that they are good to go just as they are, it would "add" to the look! I'm doing a globe too!!!! Posted with Rucus on Garden Junk...

oooh, make a mold of them...they would make a great press/slump mold for clay(opps wrong forum) ;)

Why smooth them they would be fun to mosaic just as they are(that is after I made a plaster mold of them for clay use).
