Victoria is a 1.5hr drive from us, well, it is the way I drive!lol! I haven't taken the ferry myself but it could all be looked into. Did I mention Klinger's yard is full of lil' nekkid people?!.....Kinda exotick!....

bus, plane and Victoria Clipper...
wow, I had no idea it was so do-able!

bus is $75 round trip 12 hours, each way
plane is $220 45 minutes. once in the air
clipper is $120 3 hour boat ride, through the straights.

sorta makes the choice easy, doesn't it?...

being during the week, the rates are even better, than weekend...
so, how is it, I missed even seeing a post about this? or did it start out as a Canadian get together?

Hi Becky, this is the post about this, hehe. Shirley from Vancouver is gonna come and visit and Jane and I figured the more the merrier. I am hoping we can get a few more , but if not we will have fun anywho. Jane knows ALL the good thrift stores and we both like havin fun. I really do have little nekkid people in my garden, they look like this

Do come and join us if you can Vancouver Island is gorgeous, we could visit a great garden too, there is a cool place close to Jane that is so inspirational. Lots of great plants and garden art. with mosaics laid into cement for walkways. If you come we will offer you some.....

no kidding, whenever I remember the old posts from garden junk, I always have that vision of the first time you posted it...I had never seen anything like it.

and the one time I have been to Victoria, my mom took me and my two brothers, after my dad died in a car wreck.
we went to Buchart Gardens..I have one picture of the place, in black and white.
I was 15 at that time.
we stayed at some people's house, rather than a hotel. my mom was creative about finding ways to save money and that was wayyyyyy before the bed and breakfast came into popularity. we didn't know the people and I always thought it was strange, that they would open their house to people they didn't even know.
we window shopped at the stores in Victoria...Hudson Bay, if I remember right. couldn't afford to buy anything.
I don't know how it happened that we could even afford the gas to drive up there...
must have been something my mom was dead set on doing.

if you girls don't mind a foreigner coming up, I'd absolutely love it, beyond any shadow of a doubt, to join the fun...
love thrift stores, love the beach, love the mess of cement and would love to see your backsplash in the kitchen. I'd bring an empty memory chip for the camera..oughta be good for about 200 pictures..lol

it's an exciting thought and possible reality...

Hey Sea, I live 15 min. from 2 border crossings, we could meet here and take the ferry together, or, someone could drop you at the border and I could pick you up on our side. The crossing near Linden is just 10 min. from my house. Just a thought, so, put that on your list of how to get here. What an adventure this could turn out to be!

We know you'd like to go to a coffee shop owned by the people who own this house, and the two cars they drive. He actually parked his "Batmobile" and is driving this one now, Her's has a memaid and her coffee shop is called The Mermaid's Cup....

it started out great and it just keeps getting better and better.
my sweety and I went to breakfast in Tacoma this morning, then to a favorite swap meet at the drive-in theater...
first thing I spotted was a sport/travel/duffle bag..the $50 kind...got it for a song!
great for travel in any type of travel. the handle telescopes.

later, went to the store and got a double package of memory cards for the camera. 1G each. I had been keeping track of for the past month.

he asked me if I really wanted to go, or was I kidding...
I said I wasn't kidding at all!!
so, if you girls up north can put up with me...it's a go on my side.

the clipper would be the way to go for me...there are different time schedules to choose from, depending on preferred arrival time.

it's a 3 hour run, right from pier 69, to downtown Victoria. so, from that, I think it's more up to the time anyone is willing to meet the clipper at the dock...
I'm beyond hyped for this..I haven't been out of town for so long, I don't know how to even act!!!

I would get a copy of my birth certificate, since I don't have a passport

this could be one of the best country to country get togethers for the sake of mosaic art, that one could imagine..
we've had a few here, with locals..withing a 45 mile radius but surely nothing this elaborate!

I could even pack some broken dishes in the suitcase..lol
got lots of room in that thing.

I wish I had the nerve to do something like that and behold, if I was to come to Canada and take pictures and visit a place like that, I can pretty well guarantee you, that I WOULD do something that far out!!!

I have always wanted a whimsical place to call my own.
now, with the kids (nearly) moved out, it's my turn to do just that.
all that's left at this time, are the beds and clothes.
it's been raining all day today and not much progress in the transference of furniture...I've been gone and really ws hoping to see more accomplished, by the time we got home but not so.

once she does go and take the kids, that means the computer goes with her..it's her laptop, so I'll be scurrying around, trying to find all the parts to my own boat anchor!
gonna seem ancient, with the huge monitor I have, with the towers and all.
here it's just the slim monitor and keyboard, all compact.
but I hate the little mouse on this thing..I want my old hurky mouse!

I guess you should have a birthcertificate in order to cross over, better check into the regulations cause I don't know for sure.Jeepers you have a bag and a memory for your camera, you're good to go. I bet that ferry ride is gonna be beautiful, I've wanted to take the ferry to Bainsbridge Island and see the Little and Lewis garden. That house is so colorful, her coffee shops is pretty unique too. It's right in the down town area, Nanaimo is a smaller community, about 70,000 people.No community gestapo here. Send me an email and I'll send you my phone number and Janie-bo's. We'll look at the schedules and see what works for both of us. How long does it take you to get to the pier? We can get to Victoria in an hour and a half, and it's a gorgeous drive.You'll enjoy the peace and quiet now at home I suppose,

well, it's almost quiet around here...
at least the little kids are in day care/play care lol
man, do they have a full schedule with field trips. it's almost like they hardly spend a single day there, with all the places they go, even as far as to Seattle.

that's amazing, considering the cost of gas, volunteers to help out and the keeping track of a couple dozen kids.
zoos, parks, skating, museums, stores, movies...it made me tired, just to read the calendar.

when a 10 year old is looking forward to spending the summer in day care, you know they're doing a good job.
I kinda feel sad that my own kids stayed home all summer but then I remember the fun things we did, around the yard and neighborhood.

now, on to more plans...
I live in walking distance to the state office, where the vital statistics are located and can get a copy of my birth certificate in less than 10 minutes..
how convenient is that?

do you remember when I posted the pictures of Little and Lewis, back on garden junk?..only to have them deleted by spike, cuz they were considered copyright material, even though I took the pictures.
I called them, on Bainbridge and he indeed did prefer that no one post pictures, so it was ok with me...
however, I can send an email to you, with my own private folder of them...
and if I'm on top of things, I can bring my cd of photos, too, from that day.
I really also want to go there, again. things always change and the yard is twice the size now.

it's kinda funny that you should post a picture of that house, that the lady had the coffee shop.
it's been in the last month, that I have considered painting my house a different color.
I saw a house about 40 minutes from me, that I think is an awesome color...it's a plum color, with cream trim..I just thought it was so different, without being too harsh.
now you show me a two-tone blue house, with red trim and a touch of lavender ...oh, heart be still!!!

my moss green, light kelp color house will never be enough for me again.lol

I just located the certified copy of my birth certificate.
I knew I had one but didn't think I was organized enough to put it in a place that I would think of later, to find it.
I mean, how many times does one need such a paper?...sheech!
it's packed safely in the travel/duffle bag now.
do I seem a bit anxious and thrilled about this, or what???
I just may need to have the kids make me a paper chain, for taking one numbered ring off, each day..lol
