Another Gray ?

My sitting room is Sandy Hook Gray. I'm considering repainting in a neutral gray that goes with my espresso sofa, & other dark browns in the flooring & tables.

Though the current color is nice, I find I'm limited in my accessory choices. I want a gray that goes with almost any other color, not bluish or greenish.

I considered Revere Pewter, but it has a green cast similar to the current color & Requisite Gray has a blue cast.

I've pretty much decided on Silver Fox.

Do you have that color or another gray that goes well with different colored throws, cushions, vases etc.? I like to change those out periodically.

I have revere pewter in one of my rooms and don't see a hint of green. Its a very neutral gray...if anything maybe more on the taupe side. Silver fox I found to be very pink/purpley.Finding the right grey is definitely a challenge!

I don't want pink/purpley. Do you think the color card is picking up the green from my walls? I was certain I wanted Revere Pewter until I noticed the green cast. The gray you describe sounds like what I'm looking for. I would love to see it in rooms if anyone has pics.

I think Revere Pewter is definitely more of a taupe. It is pretty, but I chose greytint, which is more of a true gray to me.

    Grays are so hard.
Definitely do a tester. Silver Fox looked SO purple in my master bath I couldn't believe it. Revere pewter looked like the most boring beige. I know it's the lighting.

I really like BM Winterwood, but depending on the light it can pull blue or green.
BM Fieldstone is another one similar - completely changes different times of day and would blend with many palettes.

Sherwin Williams has some nice grays. If you like a taupe-ier (I know, not a word. LOL) gray, look at a color called Popular Gray #6071.

You absolutely are going to have to test. Your light is clearly different than other posters who have used colors that you've tried.

Revere Pewter was very taupey for me on one wall and flatly a warm grey on another in the same room.

Silver Fox def. went purple on me in muy kitchen that has very little natural light but I've seen it in other homes where it didn't appear to have a lick of purple.

Requisite Grey is very much warm grey for me w/ no blue undertones at all - in fact it tends towards the brown side for me.

What direction is the light coming from in this room and how much natural light does it get?

i am going to try bennington gray in my master bath/bedroom...seems to be a tannish gray without too much yellow/pink...

Perhaps this is why gray has the reputation for being depressing. I look at the zillion gray paint chips on my dining room table, and all of the sample cans of gray paint stacked up on the table, and the poster boards, painted with the "chosen few", taped to the walls in my home.

    Gray is depressing me.

But I so want to find the right one, and pair it with yellow accessories...oh, I just have to keep going...

How about Bedford Grey? (Martha Stewart). It's a very deep grey - lovely. Check out the new issue of MSL. She highlights her kitchen with Bedford Grey. Nice.

I used BM Nimbus 1465 in an east facing living room. It is a wonderful gray with yellow, beige and white.

Oh and see I tried BM Nimbus Gray years ago when I saw it on an episode of Divine Design.

Leaned too blue in my DR. Oh wait a minute! Maybe it was BM Nimbus Gray that I tried! Maybe I had it all wrong from the beginning! Why do they have to name them so closely? Now I have to find the leftover quart in my basement to see what I actually got.

Anyway - I just got done w/ a 1st coat of BM Chelsea Gray on a wooden chair for my mudroom and I'm liking it so far.

Ohhh, I feel for you. I just went through the same thing this past weekend. Took 3 trips to SW before I finally settled on Earl Grey. It was my first choice but it was throwing off a blue tint. Then I realized I needed to totally prime a section of the wall to get the real color.
After I did that, it was exactly what I wanted.

Earl Grey is a bit dark though. But that's what I wanted in my bedroom. With no hint of green or blue.

Never have I had such difficulty choosing a paint color. Years ago, I had the perfect gray - neutral & sophisticated. Back then I chose it from a brochure with limited colors. Anyone remember those? I think it was called Dove Gray.
My room faces south & has a large window. I will check out the colors mentioned above.
I want a gray that goes well with pomegranate, green apple, lemon, pumpkin, hydrangea, lavender & cedar.... Not all at the same time, though.
What colors go well with the gray you have?

I really like BM Moonshine. It's in their off white color line and it looks like a real gray to me. It makes my white trim look brighter. I used it in 3 bathrooms. One gets lots of natural light the other two are windowless. It's beautiful in all three.

I have BM Stonigton Gray in my small bathroom and it is a gorgeous grey w/no undertones. It seems to go with just about anything I put against it. I also really like Moonshine altho I have never actually used it

I never thought to look at the off white colors, Hanibi. Moonshine is nice; I noticed another off white - Collingwood. Though not dark, it appears to be a true gray. Stonington seems to have a blue cast at times.
I will get some SW samples including Popular Gray next time I'm out.
