Craft Challenged Needs Help!

I am so not crafty but doing a mosaic looks like something I may be able to handle! I have lots of ceramic and glass tile leftover from our kichen and bath remodel and I want to start by trying to mosaic a terra cotta pot. I have searched for instructions and I am not sure if I should just glue the pieces on or if I need thinset? I guess I need to water proof the inside of the pot? I went to Michaels but they didn't have much in that section and the clerk was more clueless than me. Any product suggestions or advice will be appreciated!

You can get thinset in small quantities at tile stores, Lowes or Home Depot. I recommend thinset. Read some of these threads by FLAGTRUCK on how she waterproofs her pots. Also Google tutorials on "how to mosaic". Try this one first. Ooops - this opens on the tool page, but as you can see, you can click on several other instructions. Do some reading of this forum - there is a lot of information from these artists.

Don't be nervous, don't hold back, if it seems like a good idea, go with it. This isn't life threatning, but it could sure make your life happier!
