Lordy, child - are you ON something to be able to whip those puppies out so fast. GOODGRIEF!!! That's WONDERFUL - me thinks CALAM is on a pedestal/flower binge. That is sooooooooooo beautiful. WHERE in the world did you find a piece like that blue flower??? And WHEN did you mosaic that wonderful pedestal? Absolutely terrific. You amaze me.

OMG - I can't believe how many projects you're churning out!! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE that pedestal! Those colors are some of my favorites, and very mexican looking, too - which I just love. Those multi color plates are fabulous - what a great find!! They are plates, right?

Jane.....what is the pedestal made of?

Plates, tiles, a broken up vase(orange), Glass tiles(orangy amber and black), I was starting the pedastal for the flower when this came about. I was drawn to the blingy plates and couldn't stop myself! It's funny cuz I just went htru all my "Stash" and discovered the two blue vases/jars and thought they would do great/perfect for the big bowl flower I had just scored, and then I got the idea of it being more off the ground, like the boob flower, so I mortared more drain tile together, in prep for a tower/pedastal, well just kept going on it even tho I realized it would not do for the flower boob cuz of the colors, so then looked over at the cobalt blue stuff and realized I would stack them on top. So I call it a surprise tower cuz it even surprised me!lol! I cut some 1/4inch thick glass into circles to stack everything so it will hopefully be fairly sturdy. I really wanted the flower part to be vertical instead of laying horizontal but just didn't want to spend my life on it to figure it out! All this and only 3 cuts and one bandage so far!!!

I meant to ask...are those the terra cotta six-sided tiles?

Just beautiful. The Mexican looking tile is really eye catching. There could be nothing better for the top piece. The cobalt blue just sets the whole thing off.

sooooo - the pedestal is made of "drain tiles" mortared together - so I guess the "drain tiles" are round pipes of some sort? cement? You wouldn't happen to have any "before" or WIP pictures of this, would you? Again....I love this!

oh, and another question (sorry!) and what about the base of it? How did you make that? And is it attached? Sorry, that was more than one question, huh.

Thanks Everyone! I made the base with some left over cement when I was coating my wire mesh armitures(dragonfly and leaf thingy) just puored it into a tin pan, like a cake batter! The cement drain tiles I scored at my local recycle ts for cheap! And the glass stuff I am on a on going basis collecting, hourding, till I have enough to make a totem for outside. I only use actual colored glass not the painted stuff as it will peel of in the weather. I scored the glass dishes at a yard sale for .50!!! She hauled them out just like they are, all three stacked inside each other and I must of gasped cuz she looked at me funny! Then I told her what I was gonna do with it and she said her MOM has so much of it that she has boxes of stuff not even displayed, I told her that her MOM should think about the way she could display it all outside, gave her some examples...She is native and had a very beautiful cobalt blue trading bead(old and rare) on her neck. Here is a pic of the glass tiles on the sides, and the base for the boob flower, in the raw!!!

That is so pretty, I love that cobalt. You know I have probably at least 20 cement blocks piled up here, I keep thinking I'll go stick some stuff on one. I use some for plant stands on the patio, that would sure look a lot better!

Janie That is so stunning!! I think Orange is becoming the new color all over again. To think I have lived through the turn of events. I just can not say enough about your work and arrangement of colors and and and . The blue is to die for too.

Let me think.......... It was about 1968 or 69 I had a blue and orange bedroom. LOL

So what are the dishes on top? Are they a set like Dinner salad and desert bowl or?

OMG Calamity! That is soooo beautiful! I just love the blue dishes on top, and the colors are magnificent! And I'm going to get to see it in person next week! Got a big pack of batteries from Costco for my camera, I'll have to get my picture taken in front of it, like a tourist in front of a monument!!hehe

I still don't quite understand about that blue stuff. Is that a layered piece all in one or three different pieces? Explain, please. It's just so unique - I've never seen anything resembling it.

The blue stuff is stacked on top of each other, big blue vase (bottom) sits on a pc of 1/4inch glass, then a pc of 1/4inch glass on top for the next blue pc to sit on(keeping it all level), then the 3 individual bowls are all glued together and a glued to a 1/4inch glass on top of the 2 vases.
