Replacement Window Market

Hello,

Had just a couple of questions I was hoping someone could help with. Our home is around 50 years old with single pane windows and storm windows. To be honest with the exception of a couple of windows that have some rot and definitely need to be replaced I'm not convinced replacement is totally necessary but it is an economic downturn and for whatever reason I am willing to spend the the money and I am not going to be shocked when I get a 15-20K bids for replacing 15-16 windows.

Have had dealers from Marvin and Renewal by Andersen in and expect the bids in soon. Also plan to get a bid from Pella.

The guy from Andersen knew his stuff and really took the time to understand everything in my opinion. I do want feedback from the seller in terms of what works best and he certainly provided this. The Marvin guy was also good but not as thorough in my opinion and not the natural salesman that the Andersen guy was. Both companies do their own installation and have been around awhile.

The Pella salesman hasn't come out yet and seems overworked when I've talked to him.

Anyway my questions are:

Is there a good time of year to buy windows or is one as good as another? I'm questioning quality and price here. If winter is much better I can wait.

Andersen guy said seven weeks to get windows. I was pretty shocked at this. Even if they are custom isn't the economy in a downturn? If Marvin or Pella were to say three or four weeks I'm assuming they need the business worse and will be willing to deal. What I am saying is, who is offering better deals now or does the economy not really matter???

Andersen salesman talked about a sale which I must admit I hated to hear as I just like everyday low pricing. My question is whether I should play lower quotes (assuming they are lower) against Andersen and will that impact service?

I'm pretty agnostic as to what window company we buy from as long long as I'm confident the company will be around year from now. Just want good value and service.
