I love her tiles and her color sense - she is very gifted in that manner.

I don't like how much grout she uses in her pieces, however. I'd rather see more tesserae and less grout.

I want some of those TILES. I wonder how much they cost? The color is perfect for my house. Imagine those on the front stair risers with some other small bits of color all made into a mosaic.

gorgeous!!! and expensive!!! Here is my new fave mosaic artist. I love her stuff so much, I'm going to try my hand at it. She makes her tiles out of polymer clay, so only a toaster oven is needed!

CRACKED - ROSIE and I first started making poly clay tiles and mosaics inspired by Laurie before we went full fledged into traditional mosaics. We also took her workshop last year in Dallas. It was hard to realize the size of her pieces cuz of her wonderful photography, but most of her pieces are so teensy. Check the sizes of her finished pieces. She uses a lot of jewelry and found objects in her mixed media pieces. I bought one of her pieces cuz I love her work so much. 'tweren't cheap!!! I DO love Clair's work also. It was that snake path and those fabulous colors that first made me want a kiln, but I think I better stick to what I'm doing. More and more tools won't give me more and more time and energy to mosaic.

SLOW...I didn't realize how small Laurie's pieces were till you just mentioned it! And I was thinking, "she must use an awful lot of clay!" LOL!!! Now I have to go back to her site and look again. Her workshop must have been awesome. Can you post a picture of what you made?!

Love doing these, but I need lots more practice. Can't leave the traditional mosaics long enough to get back to clay. This piece is on a 3/4" piece of MDF 8"X11 1/2".

Calamity..Who cares how she mosaiced that cat to the top of the mushroom. What I'd REALLY like to know is how she got the fur on that cat to look sooooo realistic. Must be a thousand glass shards on that critter!
