Old daybed: cross post from furniture

I am trying to decide what to do with a daybed I made for my daughter 35 years ago when she graduated from her crib. It has a polyurethane foam mattress on 3/4" plywood and it is terrible uncomfortable.
Is it possible to order couch springs in custom sizes? The plywood is 30" by 73.5", not a standard size. If so is it worthwhile? Otherwise off to the landfill.
