Are you talking about black waterglass? Their are a few glasses that are semi transparent.

As far as doing a GOG on a picture frame it would work as long as the glass frame can support the glass you glue to it. Does that make sense?

Look at HSRG's window she just finished. That was done a framed piece of glass..not a window.
Not sure about the black glass question. I've only used the opaque.

My fishy is on a cheap TS frame (and glass).

Sure, why not? Don't think I've seen black transparent glass - I buy a lot of iridized black w/all those wonderful colors of fushia, blues and greens. Recently I bought burgundy transparent, which looks black on the rooster so I was disappointed in it's color.

Thanks everyone!! I've realized that the mosaicing I've been doing lately has all been on some kind of statue! Nothing has really let me go crazy, creatively speaking. I'm searching for "blank slates" to let me just be me and create my own designs. I can get picture frames anywhere. I've been having a hard time finding old windows at garage sales. (Other people I know have, but whatever.) Anyway, and my kitchen is pretty much black with other darker colors. I would like some black to be kinda transparent. I guess I will have to experiment. Darn! (LOL) Thanks for the input!

By it's very nature, black cannot be transparent or translucent. If it was, it would be gray (or purple).

The only thing one should be concerned about when doing gog and frames is the weight of glue+glass+glass+grout. Make sure the frame is sturdy enough to hold it all.

Good call wench. (I can call you that, right?) That's what I was thinking about black...but hoping I was wrong. But, that's what I like about black; consistency! Anyway, my mom has a lot of old frames that are solid wood that I thought maybe I could paint and then gog the glass. I wouldn't have to hang them up; I could stand them up against a window on a ledge. BUT, I do have a stud finder...
